Australia’s most popular spots for 2021, according to TripAdvisor
Regional travel is making a comeback and as the weather warms up, locals are already scrambling to secure their holiday stay for the summer!
Accommodation booking sites such as Stayz and Airbnb were recently swamped with inquiries from people eager for caravan and camping locations across the state.
Thankfully, the world’s largest travel platform, TripAdvisor, revealed this year’s list of the most popular Aussie destinations for the summer season.
Here are the locations that came out on top:
Standing at the top of the list is Gold Coast's very own Surfer's Paradise.
The stunning resort town is best known for its high-rise skyline that towers alongside Surfers Paradise Beach.

The city of Sydney has been ranked number two on the list.
As one of the country’s largest cities, it allows tourists to experience the hustle and bustle of the city while offering a luxury seaside escape.

The third destination is none other than the city of Melbourne in Victoria.
Often referred to as the nation's cultural capital, the city offers a vibrant cityscape that lets tourists immerse themselves.

The beautiful coastal town of Cairns sits at number four on the list.
The destination offers some of Australia's most incredible natural wonders and is conveniently only a boat ride away from the crystal clear waters of the Great Barrier Reef.

The fifth spot is taken by the city of Perth in Western Australia.

Hobart, Tasmania
Coming in at number six is the capital city of Australia’s island state of Tasmania.

The city of Brisbane in Queensland comes in at number seven on the list.

Port Douglas comes in at number eight on the list of travel destinations.

And the last but definitely not the least is the Northern Territory's unhurried capital, Darwin.
Tourists can enjoy balmy nights and outdoor adventures, as well as markets, crocodiles, and cruises. The city's proximity to Asia means you'll also find strong Asian influences.

The beating heart of Fiji’s tourism, Denarau Island came in second, and Hawaii’s Honolulu city came in third place.
Australian citizens and permanent residents who have received complete doses of their vaccines can now travel overseas without an exemption.
Before international travel into or out of Australia, travellers must show evidence that they have been vaccinated, and a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within three days of the flight’s scheduled departure.
