Are you making this sleep mistake? Sleep expert reveals the reason why you can't get a good night's rest!

We all know how important a good night's sleep is for our overall health and well-being. But did you know that the position you sleep in can also impact its quality?

If you're one of the many people who sleep on their stomachs, you might want to rethink your position – literally.

According to TikTok user @Levitex, sleeping on your stomach with a leg bent could be causing you more issues than you realize.

The sleep expert said that the sleeping position forces the muscles in your quadriceps to stay extended for your eight-hour sleep, causing the muscles to remain tense.

He explains: "Muscles don't like to be tense for long periods of time."

Levitex then positions his neck in a twisted position and points out that people don't like watching TV in that uncomfortable position.

"So, why would you spend hours upon hours twisting your neck [while sleeping]?" he asks.

"I think we've made it very clear that we absolutely hate this position."

"But it's very easy to fix."

So, how can you achieve a good night's sleep?

The sleep expert demonstrated the proper way to sleep in bed, and it's sure to leave you feeling refreshed and well-rested.

Levitex starts by demonstrating how to roll onto your side, and then stretch your bottom arm in front of you. This positions your ears, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles in a stacked position, which adds more comfort.

For even more support, he recommends placing a pillow between your knees.

"It's so easy," he says.

The post has gained traction on TikTok, racking up more than 28.4 million views and over 24,000 comments.

Several users were surprised about the random fact about the sleeping position, saying that they were shocked to learn that lying on your stomach could cause neck issues.

One user wrote: "D*mn, I always sleep like position one."

"So that's why I get a sore back," another confessed.

One person admitted that he feels pain from his shoulder upon waking up after sleeping on his stomach, saying that it feels "compressed" after a while.

Levitex advised the user, suggesting: "Usually means the pillow is too thin and unsupportive."

"It should lift your head off the bed and fill the gap."

Others sang their praises for the useful tip, claiming that the sleeping position had helped them cope with a number of issues such as sciatica and scoliosis.

One comment read: "I have been a stomach sleeper my whole life. Because of your TikToks I’ve been making a conscious effort to lay on my sides and my sciatica has got so much better."

"I got two injuries waking up from the first position so now I sleep almost fully straightened up. Took me three months to get used to it but it's possible people," another added.

A third chimed in: "I have mild scoliosis and sleep with a pillow in between my legs almost every night. The most comfortable sleeping position for me."

"I started using the pillow in this position after being a stomach sleeper and now I can’t sleep any other way! So comfy," another said.

Honestly, we are keen to try this tip ourselves.

I've had chronic back problems for 35 years (managed through physio and hydrotherapy) and my physio told me years ago never to sleep on my stomach and to sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees. I couldn't sleep any other way.

I suffered with sciatica after sleeping on a very bad mattress so I took turmeric to reduce the pain and inflammation, and continue to take it for arthritis. It works for me.

Since I've always had trouble sleeping, I've studied various sleep-related articles. A person sleeps well if his room is cool and covered with a heavy blanket. I also learned that sleeping on my back causes sleep paralysis, apnea, and snoring. So for many years, I've been sleeping in the position from this TikTok video. However, this doesn't guarantee good sleep, and I think about everything for a long time without sleep. A few months ago, in TikTok, I came across a video about a dodow sleep device. And I was wondering how does dodow work? I bought this device, and now I sleep like a baby every night, guys.
