Are you making these hygiene mistakes? Doctor reveals all

It’s common knowledge that good hygiene practices must be followed to keep our bodies healthy.

However, did you know that there are some common areas of the body that many people tend to neglect when it comes to proper hygiene?

Many of us are making some common hygiene mistakes without even realising them. But Dr Jen Caudle, a certified family physician, is here to help you stay fresh and clean.

Dr Jen Caudle had to give her 95,000 TikTok followers a lesson on the top five body parts that need to be washed often – starting with the belly button.

‘That’s right, a lot of people don’t wash their belly button at all,’ the doctor declared.

‘Guys, it gets gross! Please wash your belly button,’ she urged her followers in the now-viral video with over 1.5 million views.

Next, Dr Caudle talked about ears and how to clean them properly.

‘The top of the ear, the back [part], and also the lobe,’ she explained.

‘I want you to specifically wash that area.’ She added that if you rub your ear and it smells gross, you haven’t done a good job washing it.

Up next are the fingers – specifically, the nails. Dr Caudle said that while we don’t often think about our nails, this is where a lot of dirt gets trapped. Think about the things you touch on a daily basis and the unimaginable bacteria that stay on top of most surfaces. So, wash your hands thoroughly!

Next, Dr Caudle reminded her followers to wash their legs and not just let the soap and water run down them while in the shower!

‘Yes, you actually need to wash your legs,’ she said.

Finally, the last body part that needs some extra TLC in the shower is your toes.

‘You want to make sure you’re preventing infections of many different sorts, so make sure you’re deliberately washing your toes!’ The family doctor urged.

I used to clean my belly button with a cotton bud every couple of weeks. But seriously it doesn't need doing everyday ,you would do more harm doing it daily. I don't have one anymore so that's off my list.

Washing legs, toes doesn't everyone do this daily ! She never mentioned neck and behind your ears.

I scrub my nails under the shower maybe once a week with a nail brush those who work in the garden need to do it more often. But scrubbing nails every day will damage cuticles which then could lead to infection.

For a doctor she doesn't explain things that good 🤔

I would have thought she was stating the bleeding obvious! what's the point of showering if you're not going to clean everything?
