One of the hardest-working appliances in a tradie’s collection, all the way from the backyard to the work site, is the Ozito petrol inverter generator.

Ozito Australia issued a product safety recall due to an issue in the product’s wiring, with the potential to cause an electric shock.

The recall notice explained, 'The neutral wiring of the socket outlet has been wired incorrectly.' That’s the outlet socket containing the power plug, which is 'normally wired for the convenience of most home appliances'.

If touched, this wiring defect could spark an electric shock, with serious injury or even death a possible consequence.

About 36 of the affected generators were purchased in Bunnings stores across Western Australia between December 1, 2021, and February 16, 2022, so check to see if you may have bought one of these.

Consumers can determine if their generators have been impacted by the recall by locating the model and batch number on the information label. The model number is IGP-2018, and the batch number is 2021/06.

If you have purchased one of the recalled generators, immediately stop using the product and return it to Bunnings for a full refund or replacement. Alternatively, you can contact Ozito on 1800 069 486 or email [email protected] to arrange for it to be rewired free of charge.

Another product that’s been urgently recalled is the plant-based Rocky Road Paleta Ice-Creme 60g which was available for sale at independent food retailers, including IGAs across Victoria.

Port Melbourne Paletas Pty Ltd issued this recall due to the presence of milk, an undeclared allergen that could potentially be extremely dangerous for anyone with a milk allergy.

Affected products have a best-before date ranging from August 13, 2023, up to and including September 10, 2023.

If you’ve purchased this product and have a milk allergy or intolerance, don’t consume it. Furthermore, if you're concerned about your health, we advise you to seek medical advice and return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
