Apple announces big changes coming to your iPhone—Learn what they are!

Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is always a hotbed of excitement for tech enthusiasts and iPhone users alike.

This year's event, WWDC24, held in California, was no exception. A slew of major changes were announced that will impact all iPhone users.

First, Apple has introduced the ability to schedule text messages. Imagine being able to schedule birthday wishes or appointment reminders ahead of time.

Apple is also taking personalisation to the next level by creating one-of-a-kind emojis. With these, you can express yourself in unique ways.

You'll also have more control over customising your iPhone's interface to suit your style and needs.

‘In true Apple-style, they’ve called their artificial intelligence offering “Apple Intelligence”. There is also an element of ChatGPT, as an add-on,’ Consumer correspondent Shaun White said.

The new Tap to Cash feature may change how Apple users exchange funds. By simply connecting two iPhones, you can send and receive Apple Cash.

‘The good news is, you know those free new software updates that you get at the end of each year, and my favourite is Tap to Cash, where you can put your phones together and share information, that’s still coming,’ White shared.

Apple Intelligence will improve Siri's response to inquiries and will have elements of ChatGPT as an add-on feature. It’s like having a personal assistant in your pocket.

For instance, it might brief you on an upcoming meeting by providing details such as time and location from your calendar or summarising the preparation document sent by your colleague via email.

For those prioritising privacy, Apple has introduced new updates allowing users to 'lock' and 'hide' certain apps.

This means you can keep sensitive information away from prying eyes and ensure that only you can access these apps with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

Real-time call transcripts are also added, with the ability to record and create transcripts of calls directly from the phone app, you'll never miss important details again.

All parties will be notified when the recording starts, maintaining transparency and consent.

For AirPods users, gesture controls will allow you to answer or decline calls with a simple nod or shake of your head.

Lastly, Apple Watch health monitoring can notify you when you might get sick based on body temperature and heart rate signals.

The iOS 18 update, which will bring these features to life, is expected to be available from iPhone 15 to iPhone SE (second generation or later) and will go live in July.

As technology rapidly advances, Apple has classified certain older iPhone models as 'obsolete.'

If you're still using one of these outdated phone models, now might be a good time to consider an upgrade. The list of affected products is here.
