Allison Langdon has been a valuable member of the Today show. She's been with the team for years, and her friendly demeanour and bubbly personality helped many get through their weekday morning blues.
However, she’s moving on to bigger and better things as the new host of A Current Affair starting next year. And as any good colleague does, Karl Stefanovic made sure to give Ally a hard time on her final day as a host.
Allison Langdon's final week on the Today show has been eventful, to say the least. After being the butt of many jokes and pranks by co-host Karl Stefanovic, Ally is finally ready to begin a new chapter of her life as the new host of A Current Affair in 2023.
But on her very last day, Karl pulled out all the stops with one final prank that left Ally speechless.
Karl and weather presenter Tim Davies had Ally's Mercedes Benz towed away from her car spot in the Nine car park while she watched on in horror.
Tim met a towing company in the car park to remove Ally's car, as the former host watched what was unfolding before her eyes.
‘What? You have got to be kidding me,’ she said.
Tim told the camera: ‘We are having an Allison Langdon fire sale, including her car.’
‘Get it out of the car park. How much does a German junk like this get?’ He continued.
‘Lucky to cover the towing costs,’ joked one of the men helping with the tow.
Tim told the hosts in the studio that the car will be lifted and shifted out of the parking lot, and that they will park it somewhere else.
‘Wherever A Current Affair park it. We haven’t got room Ally, I’m so sorry!’ Tim quipped.
‘You’ll miss that old girl, Tim!’ Ally retorted.
All jokes aside, however, Karl still paid an emotional tribute to Ally and gave a sweet speech. He thanked her for sharing her ‘light’ with everyone and called her an incredible influence on people. ‘You have also been a friend. A very dear friend,’ Karl said.
He continued: ‘We thank you. It has been an honour to be friends with you, and it is an honour to be a colleague of someone taking the chair of the OG, Mike Willasee. The history there is profound, and you will, like this, you will make this role your own. Your brilliant own.’
He ended the speech with a toast to Ally, thanking her again for making them all ‘better’.
Karl’s speech was followed by an emotional goodbye with some of the Today show hosts and fans, with many sharing their tributes on social media.
‘The show will not be the same without you Ally, wish you the very best in your new adventures,’ one fan said.
‘She's getting a roasting, but it's obvious she's loved and adored by her co-workers, good luck on your next journey Ally,’ another added.
