ALDI's ingredients list has mum in shock: 'Consider using a different font next time'

Members, who has ever been in a situation like this before? You're scrolling through social media, minding your own business, when all of a sudden – BAM! – you see something that makes you do a double-take.
For some, it might be an outrageous news headline. For others, it might be an incredible (and usually heavily edited or manipulated) image of someone or something that just doesn't look real.
The same happened to this ALDI shopper from abroad, who happened to notice an ingredient list on a box of a popular crispbread that had them doing more than just a double-take – they were downright shocked!
The offending item in question is a box of Specially Selected Maple Cinnamon Artisan Crisp, which was innocently bought by Kayli for her mother to enjoy as a snack.
But when the mum got around to looking at the ingredients list later that evening, she gave her daughter a call in shock afterwards. Kayli quickly realised there must have been some sort of mistake. Or maybe not…?
Kayli wrote about the incident in an ALDI fan group on Facebook: ‘ALDI might consider using a different font next time... my distraught mum called me last night after reading the ingredients of these crackers I left for her.'
Attached to her post was an image showing how the small print on the packaging read: 'A double-baked artisan crisp made with walnuts, cats, maple syrup, cinnamon'.
Yeah… we don't blame Kayli's mum for being distraught, either! (Although we probably would have found it more amusing than anything.)
At first glance, most people would really think that the list of ingredients would include the word 'cats' – thankfully, it's actually 'oats'.
Of course, the post quickly went viral, receiving more than 7,000 amused reactions and over 700 comments from people who saw the post on social media. After that, a flood of comments came in, all poking fun at the hilarious mix-up.
'Walnuts, cats, maple syrup… sounds great!' joked one user, while another added: 'They use cats? Where did they come from? What colour are they? Are they gluten-free? How much sugar is in a serving? So many questions.'
But the best part of all this was probably the fact that people were struggling just as much as Kayli's mum to work out what the actual ingredient list said.
'My eyesight is bad. It looks like it says cats, but I can't tell what it really is. HELP,' pleaded one user, while another admitted: 'I read it three times before I realised that cats were supposed to be oats.'
Fortunately, it looks like everyone can rest easy knowing that there are no cats involved in the making of this crispbread – phew!
