Aldi shopper's hilarious reaction to finding an empty cheese package on display — "Sliced so thin it was transparent!"

An ALDI shopper was left scratching her head when she found a bizarre item on the shelf in her local store.

The item in question? A sealed packet of Edam cheese...with no cheese slices inside.

You read that right, folks! Apparently, an empty packet was mistakenly placed by staff members while displaying the items in the store.

Sharing the gaffe on Facebook, the customer posted photos of the "hilarious" find along with the caption: "Aldi...the place to go if you want to cut down on food wastage. You can now buy empty packs of cheese."

The post captured the attention of dozens of users, with many taking to the comments section to express their amusement.

Several people joked that the retailer had released a new "diet cheese", while others made a pun about the situation, saying that the cheese was "sliced so thin it was transparent".

One person sarcastically wrote: "It's the new low fat, no sugar, gluten-free, meat-free, nut-free, dairy free and egg-free cheese slices."

"The weight loss version Aiŕ Edam cheese slices," another added.

A third chimed in: "You must have been pretty cheesed off with this"

"You know inflation is bad when you're just paying for packaging," another said.

One user has called out the staff member for displaying the empty packet on the shelf but other users quickly defended the employee.

One person pointed out: "Omg staff should never have put it out."

Another replied: "It's in a box so they probably didn't notice."

Aldi staff just open the boxes and place the whole pack and contents on the shelves, they don’t place each packet of cheese separately. I think it is funny but Aldi should contact the manufacturer because they paid for something they didn’t get.

Just as Claytons used to be the drink you're having when you aren't having a drink, so this Edam sliced cheese could be the cheese you're having when you aren't having cheese.

I am surprised this packet even got to the packing box. Although on a smaller scale. On a tour through the Cadbury Chocolate factory you will see a vacuuming pipe which sucks up empty packets as the chocs travel down the rubber belt towards the packaging section. Perhaps Edam do have such a system in place & this packet just slipped through the system?
