ACCC awards Australia's number one internet provider of the year!

In the ever-evolving world of internet connectivity, speed is king.

As we increasingly rely on the internet for everything—from calling loved ones to reading the latest SDC content, having a fast and reliable internet connection has become a non-negotiable aspect of life.

That's why the latest report from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has turned heads as it revealed interesting information about Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN).

The ACCC's Measuring Broadband Australia report is a quarterly analysis that benchmarks the performance of different telcos across the country.

The recent report crowned an unexpected champion, as it championed reliable connection, all while considering affordability.

Exetel secured the title of the fastest NBN provider for three out of four reports this year.

This impressive feat became proof that Exetel is a consistent performer in the telecommunications industry.

During the peak usage hours of 7 pm to 11 pm, Exetel customers experienced speeds that reached 103 per cent of their NBN plan's maximum.

This data meant that some users got internet speeds that exceeded their plan's advertised capabilities.

It's a testament to Exetel's network efficiency and their commitment to delivering more than what's promised.

While household names like Telstra and Optus have extensive coverage and service offerings, it's essential to consider all options when choosing an internet provider.

Exetel's performance became proof that smaller networks could also offer competitive rates and exceptional service.

Following closely behind Exetel were Dodo and iPrimus, though counted as one entity for the study.

They made a significant leap to second place, with customers reaching 102.4 per cent of their plan's maximum speeds during busy periods.

Telstra demonstrated that its customers do indeed 'get what they pay for' with a third-place finish at 102.3 per cent.

Optus and TPG tied for fourth place, delivering 101.8 per cent of their plan's maximum speeds, while Leaptel took the fifth spot with 101.4 per cent.

These results showed that the competition for internet speed supremacy is fierce and varied.

For those considering switching to a different provider or curious about what's available, it's time to explore what these telco networks can offer.

Some telcos, like Exetel, provide 'Speed Boosts' that temporarily increase your internet speed for 24 hours.

As we navigate the ever-changing broadband market, always weigh factors such as customer service, contract flexibility, and additional perks alongside speed statistics.

After all, the best provider is one that aligns with your needs.

Does Exetel have good coverage in all areas of Australia is it limited to a portion of some areas, even in capital cities. I know of one company that has a tower within 5 km of a house in the inner metro area but cannot be serviced by that particular provider

Seems like their splitting hairs with a percent or two over maximum. Would you notice or need the difference between the providers,

Unfortunately I’m not aware of all the different types of providers but you have alerted me to start researching this because I have steadfast Stayed with Telstra and have not compared it to others suggested as better. Thank you for that

We've been with Westnet/iiNet/TPG and whoever owns them now for 18 years and 10 months.
I could count on my hands how many complaints we've had to make in that time.
Until now that is, the mucking around they're doing with us moving house is pathetic.
I'm hoping now they have fixed it, but it should never have been broken in the first place. They sent me a bill for $111 when in actual fact we only owed $59.
I ripped them a new one and they apologised and wiped off the whole bill, can't complain about that.
One bright spark tried to tell my partner that the amount of $111 was for our mobile phones, which are $20 a month each unlimited, with one coming out on the 4th and the other on the 25th by direct debit each month.

Iv'e heard Aussie Broadband is a good one and last I heard it was an Australian call centre, you don't hear about that very often.
And is 100% Australian owned.

West net used to be fantastic and it was on WA which seemed to be a bonus. I can’t remember why I changed to Telstra oh yes it was because I wanted coverage to my daughter in Margaret River and Telstra had the best coverage. Still with Telstra but will have to look at it. BTW Westnet was developed in Geraldton By a couple of guys who worked in that lovely Electrical Store that had the most fantastic view of the ocean

I remember that too, about the guys that started it.
I also remember when they had a fully Australian call centre, not anymore, I prefer to email them due to me not understanding a word they say.

That's the trouble they advertise that they are cheaper and reliable . I was with Telstra for years then tried a few others ended up back with Telstra as they were the only ones that had good reliable coverage where I live. Never had any problems even with my landline any faults fixed quickly. one Telco swore they had good coverage had to go other side of paddock to get signal ,if I got one it was usually only one bar
