A woman’s horrifying apartment experience goes viral — “It was impossible to get down”
A woman's horrifying experience has gone viral on TikTok after she shared how she woke up one day to find that the stairs for her apartment complex had been removed without warning, leaving her and other tenants trapped inside their own homes for hours.
Olivia Crump, who was one of the tenants who were stuck in their apartments, took a video of what she witnessed after she opened her door to start a seemingly normal day.

The TikTok user noticed that something was a little off when she first peered out her front door - an entire chunk of the staircase was missing.
In her now-viral video — which amassed 2.2 million views — she said: “When your apartment removes the stairs without warning and you’re stuck for hours.”

Olivia said that there's no way for her to leave her apartment as she lives on the third floor of the building.
She told the Daily Dot: “It was impossible to get down without climbing over the ledge with a ladder or scaling the side with a decent drop below."
“My apartment complex didn’t notify any of the residents beforehand (and still hasn’t reached out since this happened).”
She later revealed that she and her neighbours had been stuck for nearly four hours before they were granted permission to go down the unfinished steps.
Olivia also called out the management of the building, writing: “These complexes run by huge housing companies just mess with people’s lives and get away with it because people need places to live."

TikTok users shared similar stories in the comments section of the post, with many encouraging Olivia to take action.
One user wrote: “Definitely a fire hazard. They should have had everyone leave or made a temporary alternative route.”
“Building Code, Fire and Lease Violations. Hefty, hefty fines,” another said.
A third wrote: “Mine laid new concrete on the stairs, the day I was supposed to move out."
