A Powerful Read Worth Sharing
Hi everyone!
I wanted to share this passionate piece from our member @Voices Rising he really captured how so many Aussies are feeling right now—especially our seniors. It speaks from the heart, calls out what’s not working, and urges both politicians and younger Australians to sit up and take notice. If you’re fed up with being overlooked, or worried about where the country is heading, this one’s worth a read.
Here it is:
To All Politicians and Young Australians—Beware, Politicians Beware**
We, the people, are exhausted. We have watched governments **come and go**, promises **made and broken**, and now we watch as the cost of living rises **beyond reach**.
Pensioners—our nation’s **backbone**—are left struggling while energy prices **skyrocket**, debts climb, and politicians play **games behind closed doors**. The **true value of a dollar** after taxes, inflation, and price hikes has shrunk to **mere cents**, while everyday Australians are forced to **stretch what little they have** just to survive.
Grannies wouldn’t stand for this nonsense. They knew **hard work, common sense, and real accountability**. If they ran this country, things would **get done properly**, or someone would get a **good talking-to**.
We see corruption investigations **drag on for years** with little consequence. We see the same **recycled politicians** cycling through the system while real change remains elusive. **Preferential voting allows parties to win through backroom deals** rather than standing on their own merit—if the **Greens want power, let them win it outright**, not ride on preference deals.
But the real problem is this: **politicians fear no consequences**. They are **untouchable**, even as they **mismanage everything from A to Z**. They have degrees in **law, economics, and political science**, but the one **law they have never worked with is common sense**.
And yet—their wages go **up without fail**, no matter how poorly they govern. **Why should politicians get a free ride while pensioners struggle?** In any other job, failure has consequences. If politicians **do wrong by the people**, their salaries **should be cut until they fix their mistakes**. If they **decline or refuse to act**, they should be made **redundant**—just like any worker who fails their responsibilities.
And listen well—this applies to **young Australians too**. You may feel untouchable today, but **one day, you will be pensioners too**. If the system remains broken, **it will be your struggle next**. **Do not close your ears—open your eyes. Make it right before it’s too late**.
Enough is enough. We demand **real accountability**:
- **End preferential voting**—all parties must win on their own.
- **Enforce real-time cost-of-living indexing for pensions**—stop making pensioners fight for scraps.
- **Impose strict limits on political donations**—end corporate influence over our democracy.
- **Strengthen anti-corruption enforcement**—no more drawn-out investigations with no real consequences.
- **Scrap exemptions for politicians under privacy and spam laws**—stop hiding behind loopholes.
- **Introduce real consequences**—no more political immunity when failure affects the people.
- **Tie politician wages to performance**—if they fail us, they lose their pay. No free ride anymore.
- **Young Australians—wake up before it’s too late**. The system is failing pensioners **now**. Tomorrow, it will fail **you**.
- **If politicians refuse to fix it, they must face financial penalties—no more guaranteed pay raises while Australians suffer. If they decline, they should be made redundant, just like anyone who fails at their job.**
We have been ignored for too long. But history tells a different story—when the people are **pushed too far, change comes**. Beware, politicians: **we will be heard over all of you**.
Sincerely,
Concerned Australians
