You and everyone else seems to be missing one point with hot-cross-buns. They are meant to be hot. Back in the "good old days", bakers advertised and sold HOT cross(ed) buns. Yes, they were hot, fresh from the oven. What would all your readers say if the bought hot pies or hot chips and they were cold?

Weren't those the days. I remember my Mama would take me for a walk to the shops and a wonderful surprise would be waiting for me. Buns hot out of the oven and they were much bigger than my hand. More buns would come home to share with my Dad. My Dad delivered milk to all the houses, not many back then lol, and also to my schoothe corner shop, the milk bar, the cake shop, the fruit shop and the local garage. As we were a rather a small community, perks for Dad being a good milkman were awesome for me. A milkshake, a nice big apple and I loved my fizzy Mirinda drink at the garage. Those were the days

I love normal and the chocolate hot cross buns, normal ones with lashings of butter and the chocolate ones on their own but I am trying to be good and I am not going to have any until Good Friday. We have some in the freezer, my husband eats them but I have not had any !

I can remember when i was about twelve being sent to our local bakers on good Friday to buy some hot cross buns as it was the only day that they were available, i had to get up really early as queues would form for the buns fresh out of the oven. Nowadays they are available well before christmas and are sold in PLASTIC packages stone cold and the flavour is mostly nothing like it should be. As fore changing the flavours it do's nothing for me so nowadays we don't buy any at all.

These are the most bizarre things I have ever tasted. Absolute sacrilege. My sister picked up a pack on her way to work the other morning and we had one each, cold and unbuttered, had the weirdest taste ever. Maybe they taste different hot and with butter but I won't be buying them myself to find out. Gross.
