‘Inconsiderate’ passenger slammed in viral ‘hair plane’ ride on Tiktok

Travelling is one of life’s greatest joys. We get to see wonderful and picturesque views, experience different cultures, and eat exotic and flavorful foods. We also meet unique people along the way.

Of course, uniqueness can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the types of people we encounter.

In one recent viral Tiktok post, we think it’s safe to say that in this case, one person wishes their fellow passengers were a little more… conventional.

User @julie.b.christensen uploaded a video on the content-sharing platform featuring upbeat sounds and frankly, a rather icky visual of a person’s hair dipping into the cup on her tray.

The person can be seen carelessly hanging their hair over their backseat, with apparently little regard for their co-passengers comfort.

‘I wish this was staged,’ Julie captioned on the video.

‘Hair plane mode activated!’, she added jokingly.

The video has garnered massive reactions, with 3.4 million views, 124.7K hearts (likes), 6,018 comments, and 640 shares as of posting time.

Understandably, among the most popular comments were ones criticising the person.

‘Some people have no consideration,’ one user said.

‘No way! Hope you asked her to move her hair,’ another added.

Others though let their wicked streaks come through and shine.

‘Close your table and let her try and move,’ the top comment read.

Another even called the person's long, intruding hair ‘chewing gum storage’.

Some did offer more grounded, level-headed suggestions, such as asking the person to move their hair out of the way, or that if they were in Julie’s place, they definitely would have had a word.

There were also people who said that Julie should have involved the flight crew. It remains unclear from the post if she did address the person directly or asked for assistance.

The post also prompted other users to share their own horrifying experiences with passengers on planes.

One user wrote: ‘I had someone behind me squeeze their BARE TOES between my seat and the seat next to me. Immediately was a no from me. You’re strong,’ along with an awkward laugh emoji.

Speaking of bare toes and horrifying travel companions, this video that went viral in 2019 (now over 10 million views!) on the microblogging platform Twitter shows a passenger using his feet to navigate an in-flight entertainment console.

For those with a stomach for in-flight passenger shenanigans, There’s even an Instagram handle called Passenger Shaming featuring similar — but not all — perplexing content!

To be fair, not all passengers are rude. There are stories like this tyke taking time to greet passengers on a commercial flight last September in the United States.

And that’s that! What would you have done in Julie’s place? Would you have let the person be — or would you have given them a proper talk?

Please let us know your thoughts below!

Shame you’re not allowed to carry scissors on board.

I would’ve sneezed and told her my sinuses emptied out onto her hair

Oh my goodness, how awful.
I'd have suffered from a sudden bout of air sickness, even if it was only a mouthful of water....I can't think of anything bad enough.
Invasion of personal space by hair.....and not the live show!
I'd ask the staff to handle it, or move me please!
I think I left my manners on the ground, or they flew out the window.

Get up, stand next to her, say 'Excuse me, you see how the back of the chair in front of you is where your tray is? Well I am behind you & you have your hair all over my tray of food & drink. Could you please NOT throw your hair over top of your seat & maybe put it up if it's annoying you? Otherwise it might get very manky with food & drink by time we land. Thank you!" Then turn away & return to your seat. No one needs tolerate the inconsideration of this hairy cretin.

I like the suggestion about closing the table on her hair. Very rude and I am sure that if someone had done it to her she would have been outraged. Call the cabin crew. I had an experience with a rather large male who had the aisle seat. He sat down, spread his arms out to take over both armrests. Ok, I thought. Then he ordered lots of food. After he ate that, and the tray was cleared, he proceeded to open up his laptop, put ear buds in and then spread his legs, with his left leg crossing right over into the middle of my seat leg area. I just tapped him on the arm (on the armrest), and said "Excuse me did you pay for half of my sear area" to which he of course said no. So I then pointed at his leg and arm and said, "would you therefore mind moving them ". He did. It was that simple. Thank heavens as it was a 4 hour flight from Darwin.

She just lucky scissors are no longer allowed in your carryon bag. But chewing gum is.

I have lower back length hair and I always tie my hair up before going on a flight and I keep it on my side of the seat.
