May Competition: Childhood Memories – share your story and you could win $100!

Luckily I have a lot of good childhood memories. My favourite is Dad would make sure he came to my school sports softball comp on Friday afternoons with a big box of oranges to hand out to everyone. Then after school on Friday's he would take the whole family (7 of us) to a swimming hole for a...

Major bank threatens account closure over unexplained home cash

I have a similar story from a few years ago. Went to NAB branch to deposit 2,000. I was told the deposit would be flagged under government federal laws because it was over $1,000. I was then asked by the teller how I obtained the money & reluctantly informed her I had sold my ride on mower...

Dignity or Dinner? The High Stakes of Australia’s Aged Care Funding Reforms

My sentiments are with you Koda, the services offered for home care are restricted. For instance you can get your fans & windows cleaned..but only at 6 monthly intervals. Windows okay, but with fans in my place with my respiratory problems and living in a dusty area, I could not go with my...

'Keep them away from your dogs': Woman warns pet owners about common home item

My recent rescue frenchie ate a wild mushroom growing in the backyard lawn. Came close to losing her & vet said she was very very ill little girl, she was lucky to have survived. Fortunately I only live 2 doors away from my vet so she got treatment within 10 minutes of eating it. I have to...

Mum & Dad with 5 daughters .....As kids we had our own phones, two tins with a long piece of string attached. We really thought that worked until we realized we yelled that loud into the tin, that you could hear clearly from the next room. As teenagers, we had to ask dad if we could use the...

Parking here could cost you $660—avoid this costly mistake

I live in a dead end crescent. Even though a sign at beginning of street advises " no through road" people still drive up it by mistake. I am only 2nd house up and many drivers will drive fully into my driveway to reverse out and exit the crescent. Rather an annoying daily occurrence.

Fact of the Day: The longest recorded lifespan is 122 years old

That was an interesting story/utube clip. Not sure if I would want to live to that age, but if everything still works and you are somewhat still active and cognitive...then why not. What an amazing life she led.

Woman’s terrifying park walk sparks urgent call for change after dog injury

I was recently at a local beachside Cafe where there were wildlife volunteers rescuing bin chickens and pelicans from the same plight. It was a sad site to see the fishing lines with hooks, and fishing nets caught around there feet, wings and mouths. The volunteers make it there mission every...
