Love in Later Life: Navigating New Romance, Scams and the Money Talk After 60

At my age (and two marriages) there is no way on earth I would contemplate marrying again. However, like some in my retirement village (who have lost their partners) I would have no problems with dating again but live separately and all finances are preserved for both parties. Everyone is...

See how much this restaurant charges for fish and chips and whether you're overcharged!

How many fish and chip shops and restaurants are labelling country of origin? " Mandatory country-of-origin labelling for seafood, including in fish and chip shops, was introduced in Australia in 2023. While the Northern Territory had been requiring this since 2008, a national approach was...

Retiring But Not Relaxing: Australia’s Age Pension Maze

We are fully self funded and the only time I have had inter-action with Centrelinke was when I was granted a Carers "Allowance" (not pension) of $159 a fortnight to care for my husband with onset dementia. After that experience I am glad I do not deal with them on a regular basis

Research reveals baby boomers, retirees invest in cryptocurrency

Totally agree with you gordon1940...no asset backing at all. Why do I always think Ponzi scheme when I hear cryptocurrency.?? I see where POTUS is exploiting this as well. Quite disgusting in my view.

Research reveals baby boomers, retirees invest in cryptocurrency

Not for me....it is nothing but a gamble as far as I am concerned. Others can do it but not me. I have enough funds to last me till I fall off the perch.

Why every Aussie packs this powerful little card when travelling overseas

You reminded me. When I lived in the UK from 1969 to 1972 I was never sick once and the same when I lived in NZ. Must have been very healthy in those days.

Major bank threatens account closure over unexplained home cash

Agree. I have no problem if there is a genuine reason to suspect crime is involved. Large sums going in and out of an account for one.

Major bank threatens account closure over unexplained home cash

Never. I suspect it is the younger age group. Both of us are over 80 and our income is easy to check. I would be most irate if I was asked intrusive questions like that.

Over 31,000 Aussie bank logins stolen and sold—are yours on the list?

Does this mean you have to get an anti virus program or is Defender enough? Is it an email that you open that infects your computer?

Aussie slams restaurant chain for 'abhorrent breach' in food safety. What happened?

Never eaten at any of the fast food outlets and never will unless something dire happens. Only take away has been fish and chips and cannot remember when that was to be honest. That is just shocking to be served raw chicken.

An Aussie's hotel booking through Qantas' website vanished upon arrival

This reminded me of a flight I did from South Africa to Zimbabwe many many moons ago. Arrived at hotel at 2.30 a.m. or thereabouts (pre booked) to find no record of it. Fortunately they put me up in a room where a man lived Monday to Friday and I was there for the two days until he came back...

One call, five days, 130 transactions: How a 91-year-old was scammed

I totally agree. She obviously is not compent enough to do her own financial dealings. The message obviously is STILL not getting through to certain sections of society re these scam calls. I did hear the other day that in the main people are no longer so gullible and the number of scams has...
