    Graham Kennedy

I loved when Graham did live ads on his show and frequently there were hilarious moments. I recall he was singing the praises of a particular dog food but the big dog meant to be demonstrating how delicious it was - absolutely refused to eat any of it! We were in stitches!

    Toll Booths, Sydney Harbour Bridge

I remember the toll booths on the bridge very well and how all the traffic slowed down to pay the tolls. Later they had some automatic ones where if you had the right change you could just toss it in the collection basket. I also remember the toll booths on the Sydney to Wollongong expressway...

But where would you change into your suit? Phone boxes are pretty rare these days!

    Double-deck buses

Living in Waverley, Sydney's Eastern Suburbs there was no train service in the 60's so I hopped on 2 buses to get to school. I remember how hot they were in summer with lovely vinyl seating. But they got us around and of course there was a conductor who took care of tickets and signalled all...

    I’ve Just Noticed

I used to sleep well when I was working but the last year or two post retirement I find it harder to go to sleep and then to stay asleep for hours at a time. Arthritic pain in several joints and my back also contribute. If I can't sleep then I get up and read along with a warm Milo made...

    Wash House

No it wasn't a twin tub but a stand alone spin dryer and it was so efficient because unlike a washing machine that has to wash and rinse and spin - it only had to spin.

    Wash House

I remember my Mum washing everything by hand, boiling all the white things in a copper and putting them all through the wringer. She later bought a spin dryer (you could buy them separately from a washing machine in the 60's) and this was a great improvement. Mum used it until she passed away...

    Matchbox

My brother and I collected Matchbox vehicles (also things like bulldozers) as well as all the cars when we grew up in England. However when we moved to Australia we couldn't bring everything so someone else inherited the collection. I think they would be worth something today but at the time...

Old fashion rose, "Just Joey" in all its glory

Just beautiful. I love roses and all colours.

    Sandwiches

My Mum used to pack the bread and butter sandwich with a banana on the side as banana sandwiches didn't travel too well. One day I looked in my lunchbox, ate the banana for recess and at lunchtime I thought Mum's forgotten to put anything in my sandwich! Dumb kid huh?

Wedding Memories Competition - Share your story and you could win $100

I'm sorry that life has been so hard for you and that you feel you haven't found love. I think Hollywood has a lot to answer for by portraying the perfect couple with the perfect life. Life is not really like that for most people and love to me shines through when your partner puts you first...

Wedding Memories Competition - Share your story and you could win $100

Our wedding was a budget special without leaving anything out. We got married in my sister in laws backyard with a hired marquee for the reception. My husband's best friend (who was a judge) was the celebrant and my bridesmaid was my other sister in law. She also made hundreds of tissue...

    Grace Bros

As a teenager I lived in Waverley in Sydney's eastern suburbs and Grace Bros was a few minutes away at Bondi Junction our nearest large shopping centre. My mum worked in the cafe in store and we loved going to shop at Grace Bros every weekend. There were always lots of bargains to be found!

What's your favourite love song? ❤️

It was the theme song for a marvellous movie with William Holden and Jennifer Jones - their sad love story between an American and a Eurasian girl.

    Kleenex Coloured Toilet Tissue

I can remember we had apricot coloured tissues and toilet paper - the advertising hype at the time was you could match your towels and bathroom accessories! They were pretty but unnecessary - and later the question of dyes not being good for the environment saw them disappear from the shelves.

Many of us will agree with Sam Neill's description of conventional chemotherapy as "brutal". Sam we love your movies and tv series. All our very best wishes for a sustained recovery and many more years enjoying life.
