No, I agree, have never heard of either of these two and I certainly haven't had my head buried in the sand. I'm 78.

    Scam

These scams happen all the time. I'm forever getting texts and emails from "mygov" asking me to verify my identty, log in to claim my refund etc. I don't bother to open them, just delete them and report them to scam watch.

Driving shift: Senior road safety debate heats up in this Aussie state

As I said before, this thread is about older drivers and their capability. Certainly there are problems with young drivers, but this thread is addressing the problems with older drivers and there are MANY problems with older drivers.

Driving shift: Senior road safety debate heats up in this Aussie state

It is not discrimination. Yes, you don't have to be over 65 to have a heart attack, but it is more likely in an older person. And young people with medical problems that should prevent them from driving, don't drive.

Driving shift: Senior road safety debate heats up in this Aussie state

I am 78 and have an exemplary driving record also. BUT as you age you don't have the reflexes you used to have when you are younger. My car also means freedom, but if I don't pass the any of the mandatory tests then it means giving up my license. These tests are not discrimination but common...

HSBC scam shatters homebuyer's dream in the blink of an eye: ‘Not good enough’

When oh when are people going to wake up. It doesn't matter how convincing these people sound over the phone, you need to hang up and verify these things for yourself. Check with your bank yourself. Don't take the word of someone on the phone!! Everything that TrudyLee said!!

Driving shift: Senior road safety debate heats up in this Aussie state

I think you will find stringent rules apply to P platers. And as I said this discussion is about senior drivers. As we age, we certainly don't have the reflexes or the sight that we had in our younger years, so mandatory checks on our health etc is just common sense.

Yes, that's true, but we are talking about senior drivers here, not young, stupid drivers!!

Driving shift: Senior road safety debate heats up in this Aussie state

I am a senior (78) and I have to pass the annual medical exam before my license is re-issued, I have no problem with this and also when I reach the age of mandatory driving tests I will also have no problem with it. There are too many accidents involving senior drivers. Let's face it, once we...

Social media scam victim on a mission for a nationwide call to action against fraud syndicates

How can they be robbed, unless they have their address on the website. FB doesn't ask for addresses. I have posted several times about holidays and where I am going and I have never had a problem.

Social media scam victim on a mission for a nationwide call to action against fraud syndicates

If it's on Facebook then it must be true!! How many more times do people have to be told not to respond to online (especially Facebook) ads. Make your purchases and investments through reputable companes. I do a lot of shopping online but only through reputable and known retailers.

BEWARE: Woman falls prey to a sophisticated bank text scam and loses life savings

Discover this sophisticated scam targeting travellers - don't be the next victim!

Why would you engage with someone you don't know for three hours? If that doesn't raise a red flag, then nothing will. As for aged people not grasping new technology, if they don't understand it then they don't use it. If they use it then they should understand the implications of a scam...
