The music and entertainment industry mourns the loss of Zulya Kamalova (55) and Geoffrey Hinsliff (86)

The entertainment industry mourns as it loses two monumental figures.

One was famous for her unique and enchanting voice, while the other entertained viewers with his appearance on the world's longest-running soap operas to date.

Russian-Australian singer Zulya Kamalova passed away at the age of 55 after a valiant struggle with cancer.

Music producer Alexander Cheparukhin confirmed the news of her passing and took to social media to share a heartfelt tribute to the late singer.

'Zulya left us today, shortly after her 55th birthday. All her last hours with her were her daughter Zifa and husband Andrew,' Cheparukhin wrote.

'She was grateful to all of us who helped her to give people beautiful songs. Long live her voice, a bright memory.'

Kamalova was known for her distinctive sound that beautifully blended her Tatar heritage with a modern sound, which created a musical experience that resonated with audiences worldwide.

Zulya Kamalova's voice, often described as 'hauntingly beautiful', was a testament to her ability to convey stories and deep emotions through music.

Throughout her career, Zulya Kamalova released six albums.

She would often perform live with a backing band called the Children of the Underground.

Her album, 3 Nights, won an ARIA award for Best World Music Album in 2007, a testament to her talent and the impact of her music.

She was also nominated for Best Global or Reggae Act at the 2013 Music Victoria Awards.

Before her passing, Kamalova shared her thoughts with her followers in a poignant post.

'These days, I oscillate between hope and despair. But I try to focus on joy, good memories and lovely times,' she wrote on social media.

'Be it travelling in Europe, catching up with friends, enjoying the times that I have left. Not so much left, I'm afraid. So let's concentrate on love.'

On the other side of the globe, the entertainment world mourns the loss of British actor Geoffrey Hinsliff.

He was 86 and survived by his wife, Judith, and their two daughters.

The news of his passing was confirmed by the series's producers earlier this week.

Famous for portraying Don Brennan on the long-standing soap opera Coronation Street, Hinsliff has graced TV screens since 1987.

Hinsliff starred in the TV series along with the talented Lynne Perrie, who played his on-screen wife Ivy Brennan.

Coronation Street has been a cultural institution in the United Kingdom and is currently the world's longest-running series.

It's a show that entertained watchers and showed British society's ever-changing landscape.

Before becoming a household name as Don Brennan, Hinsliff appeared on Coronation Street in a minor role in 1977.

While Don Brennan was written off the show in 1997, Hinsliff continued to be a familiar face in the TV.

Hinsliff appeared in various series, including Brass, Heartbeat, and earlier iterations of Doctor Who, among others.

In a touching family statement posted online, the Hinsliff family remembered him as 'restless, curious, adventurous, and funny'.

They shared that he was a man who enjoyed engaging in discussions around the dinner table and setting the world to rights.

However, it was his devotion to his family that stood out the most, as these were the aspects of life he cherished above all else.

Hinsliff's co-star, Helen Worth, paid tribute to the actor.

'Geoff was a lovely, quiet man who will be sadly missed by us all,' she said.

Worth also highlighted the unique on-screen partnership between Hinsliff and Perrie, noting how much joy it brought to the viewers over the years.

It wasn’t till I played the video that I remembered who they were!! I’ve watched Corrie for years, but my memory isn’t so good till I see their faces and hear their voices!! 🤣👏👍

Well, "Noon, LynS, Suzanne Rose & Rosie Gordon", unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as yourselves.
Obviously, they were very good in their particular fields of entertainment.
After watching the video of Zulya, she certainly did have a very sweet voice indeed. Way too young to pass away.
