G’day, lovely friends! 💖 How’s your afternoon going?

You all know how the SDC team loves a good chat, and this morning we found ourselves talking about the quiet ways we show kindness — the ones nobody really notices. It could be checking in on a friend, letting someone cut ahead in the supermarket line, or quietly slipping a coin into a charity tin. Small things, but they can make a big difference. 💛

We were especially touched by a man online who shared his answer to this very question: he said he always cleans up the office in the morning as a tribute to his grandparents. Simple, thoughtful, and done purely from the heart. Listen to him here:

So tell us — what’s the kindest thing you do that people might never see? We’d love to read your stories below.

I am not so much of a goody 2 shoes but perhaps generally, I keep to myself, let people deal with their own problems.
I have my moments, I suppose, helping some people out with a good deed or some helpful advice.

Helped a blind lady out one time some months ago, that had not long moved in to the area, and was trying to get accustomed to where the local railway station was. We crossed a busy road at the lights and I took her to the station, pointing a few highlights, and the fact that there were also bus bays there should she want to catch a bus.
She pointed out to me that there was a pathway of studded, coloured rubber, on the ground/footpath that she could sense with her feet and collapsible stick. These studded, coloured rubber, would and could lead her to places she might have had an interest in to get to. They were something I had seen many times but never really thought much of them.
You may have seen studded, coloured rubber at pedestrian crossings. I was always under the impression they were there so that one wouldn't slip on to the roads and maybe get run over.
I learned something new that day and it made perfect sense.

Other times I might help the little people that cannot reach the top shelf in the supermarket. With me standing 180cm tall it is easy for me to grab those items for them.
Watched a little old lady, and I mean she was little and old, trying to reach a top shelf item. I stood and watched, and she was on her tiptoes, as she just managed to reach what she was after. I didn't want to take away her thunder of achievement but was waiting to see how much she was struggling before offering her any help. Walking past her, I told her so, and with a wink said, "Good job!!"

There are probably lots of little things I do for people, and a simple 'thank you' is all it takes to keep me doing things like that.

It doesn't matter that no-one sees me doing things to help others sometimes, but hey, this is what I call being courteous, friendly, helpful, and human. I don't seek rewards.

Hmm I'm not a goody two shoes but I love helping people whenever I can and I try to do it in secret .

A neighbour I knew was doing it tuff so I put some money in an envelope and when it was dark slipped it under her door.

I often give money to one of my daughters to give to her sister , my eldest child. My daughter knows not to tell her sister its from me and it goes no further than her.
I don't want her knowing its from me as she will become to comfortable with it.

To do something nice for someone and to do it without anyone knowing is so good for your soul

When I give away clothes on here , no one but hubby knows and that's because he goes to the post office for me. Last time he sent items for me he told me what I do is one one the biggest things he loves about me.

Hey Rab, 😉

To assist with some kind of financial assistance is wonderful however, I would be inclined to give a gift voucher as you don't really know where the $$'s go.
A Woolworths food voucher would be my line of assisting

I agree 100 % . The lady across the road told me my neighbour was really doing it tough. Her husbands mum past suddenly, and they needed to pay the funeral at the same time her husband loss his job of over 20 years very suddenly . I have known them for years and hubby actually worked with her dad.

As for my daughter I usually order her groceries and have them delivered. I give her money so she has extra for bills and clothes. She is a single mum to 3 kids. There dad is a black Anerican who ran of with a Tongan woman when ny daughters youngest was only 8 months old. He went back to the USA for good.

I hope you have been well

Maybe you need to plan another trip. I've told my girls no more babies as I need a holiday.
Maybe another trip but not on my own.
Have been considering Tassie

Tasmania is beautiful. I wanted to go there last week it was actually snowing.

You need to visit Port Arthur if you go.

Plan to do a round trip over 10 days or so, with Port Arthur being one of the locations. 😊
They reckon the best and most popular time to go is in January. Wanna join me? hehehe
