The biggest highlight so far this year is becoming a grandmother again to a little princess…. Cara Faye.
Faye is my middle name & also our daughter’s middle name. It’s Irish & means Fairy.
Because we both thought we couldn’t have children (hubby practically sterile & me with a half turned uterus) got a little Maltese terrier & named her Cara.
About 5 years later I finally got pregnant.. was such a shock after trying for almost 12 years…including 3 miscarriages.
Our little Cara was like our baby & when I told everyone I was pregnant, they said I would have to get rid of our dog as they all said she would be aggressive toward our baby.
Little Cara turned out to be such a beautiful dog.
When our daughter was born, our little dog stayed beside her cot all the time. She was like our baby’s carer.
We had our little dog till our daughter was 4. The 2 of them were almost glued together. Our daughter could do anything to her & she took it all without ever snapping or growling.
When our little dog passed away we were all deeply depressed as she was “ our first baby”, & our daughter cried all the time. We thought that was why she called her daughter Cara. But it was actually her husband who came up with the name, so it didn’t take much convincing for our daughter to agree.
Our daughter has a few memories our little dog…. & still sheds a few tears when we talk about her.
Sorry for babbling on…….🤗🤗🤗🤗
What a beautiful story. A few of my granddaughter's also have my middle name for their middle name as well Rose 🌹

I'm breaking the trend here.

The MOST UNMEMORABLE happening as far as I'm concerned is the allowance of the 'Palastinian' protest march on the Harbour Bridge. This is also the allowance of the TERRORIST FLAGS that are allowed to be flown.

To top it all off, was the arrest of an AUSTRALIAN FLAG waver.

We as a nation are COMPLETELY DOOMED, under our current Federal Government.

WAKE UP AUSTRALIA.
.
Really? Seeing comments calling peaceful Palestinian protests on the Harbour Bridge a sign that Australia is "doomed" or that "terrorist flags" are being flown is not only false — it's dangerous. If you only support free speech when you agree with it, that's not patriotism — that's authoritarianism.
We should be wary of all extremism — but let’s not mistake fear-driven nationalism for love of country.
If you justify the mass killing, starvation, and displacement of civilians, your problem isn’t politics — it’s your humanity. Calling it “defence” doesn’t erase the war crimes. Hypocrisy is loudest when people excuse atrocities they’d never accept from anyone else.
And for the so-called ‘Christians’ - You can’t claim to follow Christ while justifying the slaughter of innocent people. Jesus stood with the oppressed, not the empire. If your faith makes room for apartheid, bombs on children, and ethnic cleansing, it’s not Christianity — it’s complicity in evil.
But hey, keep telling yourselves what good, decent human beings you are, patting yourselves on the back and high-fiving each other, while most of the world looks at you in horror.

Going on a (regrettably abbreviated) trip through WA. Boat trip around Port Hedland harbour, courtesy Seamen's Mission - those iron ore ships a HUGE. Learned about the life of the average sailor (not for me!). Seamen's Misson invited those of us who knit to make beanies for the sailors: they can go from NW Western Australia (always warm) to winter in China or other destinations and it's cold. At last - something to use up all my leftover wool that might help somebody! (Now I've run out of leftovers, and cleaned the local op-shop out of 8 ply...).
THEN Coral Bay. I wish I could afford to return there every summer. And swim with the manta rays and whale sharks and maybe even the migrating whales.
Another bonus of our caravan trip was - we rarely watched the idiot box and the Always Depressing News

Firstly why bring Christianity into it ? I think @novezar was basically saying half of what you just said

My big question is with the starvation of the Palestinians is it Hamas responsible and not Israel?

I believe it is Hamas behind it

Strange when you drive through Lakemba in Sydney above every shop is a Palestinian flag. Also huge signs saying Allah is the only God. And not one Australian flag anywhere. Do you think that is OK 😠

I will keep this simple.
You don’t get to rewrite the facts to suit your bias. I will allow for the distinct possibility that you are just deeply uninformed.
In response to "your big question" - Blaming only Hamas for starvation is not just inaccurate — it’s a deliberate deflection from state-imposed collective punishment. Gaza has been under an Israeli blockade for over 17 years
And let’s be real, religion does factor into this conflict — from sacred sites to nationalist agendas.
Re: Lakemba?
That’s another deflection. No one complains about Irish, Italian, or Greek suburbs proudly showing their heritage — but when it’s Palestinians or Muslims, suddenly it’s a problem? Let’s stick to the topic: a peaceful protest in a free country.
One God, blah blah? “Religion in the hands of thoughtful people can inspire peace. In the hands of idiots, it becomes a weapon — and history proves that over and over.”
PS. ("Firstly why bring Christianity into it ? I think @novezar was basically saying half of what you just said") - Suzanne rose - your comprehension sucks!

NO I DON’T.
Palestinians want to control Australia & have our way of life changed to theirs.

I am NOT prejudiced, but if people come to live in Australia, then they should live as we do.

If we went to Palestine & showed regression….our life would end quickly.
They don’t hold any values or consideration to anyone’s lives.

You said exactly what I think and have always said.

They do want to rule Australia. Certain countries we wouldn't be aloud to get off the plane without our head being covered.

We have to respect their way of life and country if we go there so it should be the same when they come to ours.

Try living in an area where there are predominantly Moslem, I guarantee your attitude will change.

The battle between Palestine and Israel go back before the time of Jesus.

Hamas is definitely the one behind the starving people.

Latest news Iran is responsible for the bombing of three buildings in the Jewish community in sydney.

As for the Italians and Greeks they are complete opposite to Moslems. They live in peace and blend with other nationalities unlike others

I’m not Israeli or Palestinian, I’m not religious, but I support peaceful protest and care about human rights — for everyone.
What worries me is how quickly that support is met with sweeping, negative generalisations about Muslims. Criticising governments or conflicts should never justify racism or blaming entire communities.
Most Muslims — like anyone — just want to live in peace. No religion or culture should be judged by the actions of extremists. So Brendan Tarrant, the Australian White Supremacist who killed 51 people in Christchurch - should all Australia’s be blamed? It was a terrorist attack.
We do not need to dehumanise people - that is hate and prejudice. If your God supports that - I know I am right having nothing to do with said God.
