A tourist laughed at Abbie Chatfield’s warning—until a $330 fine arrived

A British tourist’s parking blunder in Sydney has sparked a fiery street-side exchange—and a hefty fine.

What began as a casual dog walk for Abbie Chatfield quickly escalated into an argument involving blocked driveways and stubborn defiance.

In the end, it was a parking ranger who delivered the final blow.

The It’s A Lot podcast host said she was walking her dog Walter outside her Eastern Suburbs apartment when a British woman drove past, narrowly avoiding Chatfield’s own car.

She then watched the driver park ‘halfway across the driveway’, leaving no chance for vehicles to exit.

‘I wasn’t going to say anything until she asked her friend if it was a good park,’ Chatfield recalled.

Thinking the woman was unfamiliar with local rules, Chatfield tried to explain that parking across a driveway was illegal.

‘I’ve seen things online about people from England parking recklessly, and I thought maybe she was confused,’ she said.

‘She’s obviously not from here and I was trying to help her to let her know it was illegal.’

However, the driver’s response quickly soured the exchange.

She told Chatfield she ‘wasn’t asking’ for her opinion, before claiming that 4WDs could simply drive ‘over the gutter’.

When Chatfield pressed the point, the woman refused to move her car—laughing with her friends instead.

The media personality said she was stunned, especially knowing parking rangers often patrolled the area.

Her partner, musician Adam Hyde, had previously been fined for overstaying by as little as 10 minutes before obtaining a parking permit.

‘I was trying to help her… then she starts yelling at me in this Cockney accent,’ Chatfield said.

Not long after, the driver learned the cost of ignoring the warning—a $330 fine for blocking the driveway.

‘Well, well, well. I tried to warn her. I tried to tell her,’ Chatfield said.

‘There’s also parks up the entire street but she wanted to be a c***… Sorry darling, it’s going to cost you.’

Social media users largely sided with Chatfield, calling the fine ‘karma’ and ‘the best possible outcome’.

‘I would sit on the deck with a coffee and wait for the show to start,’ one said.

Another joked they would have left a note saying, ‘You should have listened.’

Justice served. I love how certain visitors come to our country and think they own it.

There is nothing more annoying than someone parking across your driveway and blocking you in or out.

My daughter lives three doors down from the local public school and many times she has arrived home from picking her kids up from school ( they attend a private school) to find a car parked across her driveway. Resulting in her needing to make a few laps off the block.

Her kids get out at 2.50 pm and the school near her gets out at 3.10 pm. Her kids school is in Beverley Hills 5 minutes away. There is absolutely no parking which is why she needs to do laps.

I told her to call me and I will go and wait for the parents to get back to their car. I live around the corner.

She has left notes and also has a NO PARKING IN DRIVEWAY Sign.

Goodmorning Suzanne, thankyou for your post. Ask your daughter of she is willing to place her greens and normal rubbish bins, standing up in her driveway area. That way people may think it's full, and not drive on her drive way. When she comes home, she can just move her bins and use her driveway without having to do laps. Just an idea. Wishing you an enjoyable and pleasant day. 🙏🦋

Abbie Chatfield is a try hard wannabe "influencer", with a foul mouth. I wouldn't be surprised if she saw a parking fine on a random car took a photo and made up this entire story for views and likes.

She tried that and they actually moved them.

I told her to take a photo of the cars who do this and put the photos up on The Roselands FB group and ask who's car is this that parks in her driveway preventing her to drive in and feed her very hungry kids

Dear Suzanne, thankyou for your post. I think there my be a law against people parking on your driveway that blocks you from entering your property. Try taking a photo with the registration number, and give it to the council who will then come and issue the driver with a fine, every time they park there. They may even track her address through the RTA when they have her registration number, and send her the fine to her address. Have a lovely evening, 🙏🦋
