@Suzanne rose, you’re taking @Veggiepatch back to a time he often talks about. He loves looking at the photos you’ve posted.

It’s quite a coincidence that in the last few weeks or more, he’s been reminiscing about those days and “visiting” old friends in Facebook.

The fact that he remembers everything makes him quite nostalgic. A much easier, fun and carefree time in his life. 🤩 😃

It's very strange it's like you can take us out of Riverwood but you can't take Riverwood out of us. I guess it's just a good memory and one when we were with our family

I often go back there with my daughter as my granddaughter's therapist is there.
I take my other granddaughter for a walk while her sister is in therapy and I look at everything that has changed and actually picture how it used to be.
It's actually sad 😔
I even remember how there were dog drinking things in the wall and sadly they are all gone. The butchers with saw dust on the floor , it's gone. No more milkbars just a lot of coffee shops.

I think Vege would actually be sad

Ahh!!!

The Riverwood train bridge! To the right of the bus was Shorty's Dry Cleaners. The chemist was where I bought "itchyheads", 50 mg tablets of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 100 tabs for 90 cents to give you endurance for surfing. The milk bar next door where you would go to chat up girls. A fish and chip shop further up.

I could go on for hours just looking at those photos!!
The burgers were really good there. My neighbour Noelene worked at Shortys for many years. A short dark haired lady and always friendly

The memories are vivid and actually sad.

I remember the dog drinking hole at the front of Cam's Hardware across from where the old Woolworths was before it became the Riverwood Plaza. The paint shop was next door to Trevor's sports store and John Forrest's Golden Fleece garage on the opposite corner. He was my first mechanic back in 1976.

There was also a dog drinking hole outside the butcher on the corner next to Shortys

My dentist was above Cams hardware. Dr Jenkins

When you and Debra come to Sydney I will meet you in Riverwood and take a walk down memory lane then we can have lunch at the old Domino

I used to Doctors in Riverwood. Dr Suzanne Korton in Moritai ave . She actually delivered me in Bankstown hospital. And Dr Ong when I didn't feel like waiting 8 hours at Dr Kortons

I was also named after her
Ahh!!

Dr Thomas Ong!!

Ask him nicely and will give you a medical certificate for as long as you like for a splinter in your thumb! I never went to him but many mates did for this sole reason.

My first GP was Dr Dent in Webb Street. Next was the Scotsman Dr Harrison on the northside of Belmore Road. He looked after Mum until she died in 2007. He would make house calls to Mum 24/7. Top doctor!

Dr Dent was a different proposition. He was deregistered by the AMA for "indecent dealings" with female patients. Was Mum one of those? I will never know.
