Fact of the Day: The man who ate a plane?!
Meet Michel Lotito, also known as Monsieur Mangetout ('Mr. Eat-All') — the French performer who literally ate the impossible. Over his lifetime, Michel consumed an astonishing array of objects: metal, glass, rubber, and even entire items like bicycles, shopping carts, a waterbed, and yes… an actual Cessna 150 aeroplane.
Diagnosed with a rare condition called pica, which causes cravings for non-food items, his stomach lining was unusually thick, allowing him to digest things that would seriously harm most people.
Between 1959 and 1997, it’s estimated that Michel consumed nearly 9 tons of metal. He’d break objects into small pieces, wash them down with mineral oil, and munch away like it was nothing.
