Who remembers shelling peas for dinner? Back then, families would sit around the table, chatting away while slowly filling the bowl with peas for the meal. It’s funny how, without all the modern conveniences, we somehow had more time. Do you remember these quiet, simple moments?

I used to help my nan shell peas. I also remember her sometimes adding mint leaves to the pot .
She used to also add bi carb soda to the water

We had a wonderful veggie garden including peas when I was a child. I recall my lovely mum asking me to whistle whilst shelling them so I wouldn’t eat as many. It sort of worked… I still love, love, love raw peas to this day.😊🫛

l love raw peas straight out of the pod. Mum would always get us to sing when we peeled them.

My Grandfather grew ours in the backyard, with so much more....I used to love sitting in the rows of plants picking them off and eating them....then Mum would start shelling them for dinner and I would eat them like crazy.....who said it's hard to get kids to eat their veggies? 😂 😋

Our mother made us whistle while we shelled the peas. If the whistling stopped she would know we had started to eat them!😁
Raw peas were a great eat.

Bi carb soda destroys the vitamin C. You should add the peas to boiling water to keep them a nice bright green.
