Why is it, when cartoonists sketch & depict people, they always sketch them with only, either, 3 or 4 digits on their hands ?
I've been baffled by this for many, many moons.

NOVEZAR.

Before someone mentions it, there are a couple of terminologies for less than 5 digits. i.e., Bracydactyly & Oligodactyly. Polydactyly is extra digits on hands, &, or feet.

The reason is that a four fingered hand is easier to draw and animate in classic cartoons.

But you will hardly find a four fingered hand in Japanese animation. The Yakuza use the amputation of a finger as a form of payback and that "four" in Japanese culture means death.

At least it is not an arm or a leg.

Long John Silver only has one leg. Captain Hook has only one hand.

Both are fictious characters who have featured in cartoons.

As long as his middle digit is left intact and fully functional he shouldn’t have any problems! 😳😳😳

So very true, there Veggie.
Don't forget the "HOOK" on the 'Stub" arm.
