Did you hear about Jackie O's 'terrifying' health scare?

You may know Jackie O from the popular KIIS radio show Kyle and Jackie, where she consistently delivers entertaining and engaging content.

However, the radio star was on the other side of the news recently when she bravely shared details of a health scare she experienced live on-air during a heartfelt interview on Studio 10.

Accompanied by her best friend and manager, Gemma O’Neill, Jackie shed light on her new business venture, known as Besties.

But it wasn't all excitement related to this new endeavour. The duo shared a frightening incident while preparing for a promotional photoshoot for the new business.

As we all know, behind the glamour of photoshoots is a lot of meticulous preparation. While preparing in the bathroom, Jackie noticed a small lump on her breast, causing her to call out for Gemma. The manager noted that she immediately ‘knew something was wrong’.

Jackie O, understandably emotional, had summoned O’Neill to check.

'She was standing there, naked–I’m standing there, feeling her breasts–and I said, “Yeah…there is something small in there, actually,”' confirmed Gemma.

With the matter needing urgent attention, there was no time for delay.

'We went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in the space of five minutes. Now fortunately, we very quickly got you in for a mammogram, and we went together the next day. And she was fine. And everything was fine,' Gemma revealed.

While it can be unsettling to reveal such intimate details, especially on-air, the two agreed it was important to share their experience to raise awareness and encourage women to stay on top of their health.

'A lot of people, they just think the worst, and they’re too afraid to see what the result is. And it’s terrifying, it really is. Those few days [waiting for results] were just like, what if, what if?' she admitted. 'But putting it off and off, it really is not the answer. It’s so important to get those checks done.'

Fortunately, the health scare had a good ending. The ladies were able to turn Jackie's moment of fear into a public service announcement, urging their audience to go to the doctor. She emphasised that health should never be taken lightly.

And if you're curious about the rumour previously shared by their radio rival Brendan Fevola, the radio star quashed that their Sydney-based show will also air in Melbourne from next year.

'There’s a lot more to it than adding on an extra city,' she responded when asked about the possibility of airing nationwide.

'I think that would be a privilege to do, but it certainly wouldn’t be the only reason. No, there’s a lot to weigh up.'

Gemma also weighed in as Jackie O’s manager, ‘There’s nothing to announce yet.’

Drama, drama, drama. Really, why did we need to know this at all, especially that she was standing there naked when her manager went to check her boob. Why do celebrities think everybody wants to know about their dramas, everybody has there own dramas to deal with. I have been having yearly mammograms since I turned 40 due to family history of breast cancer, and I and my 3 surviving sisters have all had numerous scares when mammograms have shown up a problem that needs to be checked further by a visit to a specialist. Jackie O would have no idea I’m sure about living with the knowledge that as every close female relative from the last three generations who has passed away has had some form of cancer, mostly breast cancer, that the odds are not in our favour of not getting cancer. We just all get on with our lives with the motto of living every day to the fullest and enjoying life while we can, and if /when we get cancer we will deal with it then.
