We know how much our members love a new pair of sneakers, so we can only imagine how excited you must have been when Under Armour released its new UA HOVR and Flow Running Shoes in June this year.
However, we're sorry to report that these shoes have since been recalled from retailers around the country due to a potential health hazard.
According to Product Safety Australia, the shoes were sold without warning that the right shoe contains a 'button battery' that is sealed within a pod and embedded in the shoe.
The warning also noted that if young children gain access to button batteries and ingest them, they are all likely to suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious injury or death.
So, if you have grandchildren staying with you in your home, it might be a good idea to store these shoes in a place where the kids cannot reach them.
The recall affects 20 varieties of shoes across Australia, which were sold at national retailers Rebel Sport, Foot Locker and Stylerunner (among other stores) between June 22-24.
The affected models are as follows:
If you believe you may have purchased a pair of these recalled shoes during this time period, Product Safety Australia advises you to contact Under Armour Australia at [email protected] for a copy of the button battery warning as well as advice on your consumer rights.
There you have it, folks! Again, for those of you who have recently purchased running shoes, be sure to check them over carefully in case they also contain this potential threat!
Stay safe, members!
