Consumer advocates from CHOICE spent the year scouring supermarket shelves and testing products to bring you the best buys for 2022.
In their list, CHOICE’s experts praised supermarket brands for launching impressive, reliable, and quality-constructed products.
They also included the best products from other companies that outdo the ones from other brands – so you know they’re being completely honest!
So without further ado, here are the top 10 household buys for this year:
1. Kerrygold Pure Irish Salted Butter
We all know that butter makes everything better. Whether it’s spreading it on a piece of toast in the morning or using it to add some extra flavour to your dinner, there’s no denying that this dairy product is a staple in most people’s diets.
But with so many different types and brands of butter on the market these days, how do you know which one is the best?
Thankfully, the experts at CHOICE did the hard work for us and taste-tested 44 different kinds of butter from all over the world to find out which one is worth our money. And we're happy to report that Kerrygold Pure Irish Salted Butter ($6) came out on top!
With a score of 79 per cent, Choice dubbed Kerrygold's offering as the creamiest and most delicious option on the market. In equal second place were two other popular brands: Lurpak Slightly Salted Butter ($7) and Meander Valley Salted Butter Cultured ($8).

According to the experts from CHOICE, ALDI Colway Creamy Squeezy Mayonnaise is a standout among 34 different brands of mayonnaise, earning it the title of best mayonnaise in the market!
This budget buy came out on top with a 74 per cent rating. And at just $2.59, it's less than half the price of some of its competitors!

Daley St's Medium Dark Roast Pods ($5) received an excellent 75% in CHOICE's coffee capsule review.

So what makes a great toilet paper? According to CHOICE, it all comes down to softness, absorbency and value for money. They put a whole bunch of different brands to the test in order to see which ones met all three criteria.
And their top pick? iCare double length toilet paper! This product scored just three percentage points less than the leading brand (Quilton) but is almost half the price at 30 cents per 100 sheets.
10. Dettol's Healthy Clean Kitchen Spray
As much as we all love spending time in the kitchen whipping up a delicious meal, it's definitely not our favourite room in the house when it comes to cleaning.
