There’s no denying that having high-quality cookware can make a big difference in the kitchen. Whether you’re a budding chef or a home cook, having the right pots and pans can make all the difference in the quality of your food.
For one, high-quality cookware is often made with better materials. This means that they heat evenly and can better withstand high temperatures, both of which are key for cooking.
Additionally, high-quality cookware is often better designed, which can make cooking more efficient and even fun. But perhaps the most important reason to invest in high-quality cookware is that it can make your food taste better. As cooks can maximise the utility of this cookware, it can help bring out the natural flavours of your food and make the food taste better than ever.
It can't be denied, however, that quality cookware can be a bit pricey.
But, don't fret, folks! There is some budget-friendly cookware that can rival more expensive brands.
Just take a look at Kmart's $18 frypan that emerged as a top scorer in CHOICE's test.

Comparing the product among 35 other frypans from other leading brands, the advocacy consumer group said that Kmart's humble cookware garnered the most points.
CHOICE Kitchen Expert Chantelle Dart explained: 'All of the frying pans we tested in our labs performed quite well across the board, despite what they cost.'
'The aspects that separated the best and worst models mostly came down to their durability and things like how easy they are to clean, the ergonomics of the handles and how well-balanced the pan is.'
While many ‘cheap’ frying pans fell short, one Kmart find impressed the pros: the $18 Kmart Anko stainless-steel non-stick 24cm frying pan.
'It was our low-cost standout, scoring higher on performance, ease of use and durability than brands such as Scanpan, Jamie Oliver, Tefal and Swiss Diamond,' the group claimed.
The following is a list provided by CHOICE of the benefits and drawbacks of employing the budget item:
BENEFITS
DRAWBACKS
So there you have it, members. Quality cookware doesn't have to break the bank! With a little research, you can find quality cookware at a fraction of the cost of the high-end brands.
We also want to ask you: Have you been using budget-friendly cookware? How long have you used them? Are they still functioning well? Share your recommendations with us in the comments below!

BENEFITS
- Heat distribution - Distributes heat evenly when cooking
- Durability - Does not get damaged despite CHOICE testers passing it with a mechanical scourer over the same area 10,000 times
- Utility - it is suitable for use on any burner and in the oven
DRAWBACKS
- The materials used are not topnotch - The non-stick wasn't nearly up to par and the base is thin. The stainless steel exterior and base, as well as any exposed rivets inside the pan, may discolour and need additional cleaning.
- Handling issues - The handhold is not non-slip
