You won't believe what's included in Coles' Christmas range for 2022

As much as we love spring, there’s something about the warmer months that always make us feel a little more festive. This must sound bizarre to those in the Northern Hemisphere and we do have to be honest and say snow seems fun on Christmas. Maybe it’s because Christmas is just around the corner, or maybe it’s because we get to break out our swimwear and enjoy the summer heat while chilling (pun intended) on the beach.

Either way, one of the best things about summer is the scrumptious food that comes with it. So many delicious festive dishes to enjoy!

And speaking of summer food… Coles has just revealed some exciting new details about their Christmas range for 2022 – and trust us when we say there are some real treats in store this year.

This year Coles has unveiled 151 new products, with a huge focus on offering easy-to-prepare items that are both budget-friendly and gorgeous to look at – perfect for impressing your dinner guests over the holiday period!

There are, of course, all of your usual suspects like hams, turkeys and puddings… but there are also plenty of delectable newcomers sure to add something extra special to your Christmas feast. (You might want to start making room in your freezer now!)

Curtis Stone - celebrity chef and Coles ambassador - was lucky enough to get an early glimpse at some of these goodies, along with TV cooking alumnus Courtney Roulston.

This year's ham is expected to cost the same as it did in 2021 as a result of last year's growing prices, which is a tremendous relief for customers struggling with the inflation issue.

The Christmas juniper berry seasoned ham created from 100% Australian sow stall-free pork is undoubtedly one of the highlight offerings.

It is stated that the cured ham is ideal just out of the refrigerator or when it has been thoroughly reheated in the oven.

'I really do like that Juniper ham. I love the flavour profile of it. It's hard to beat that. You know why? Because the flavour of it reminds me of Christmas,' Chef Stone remarked.

The free-range, triple-smoked half-leg ham with maple glaze is another great option for those who are looking for Christmas hams.

Another popular dish is the easy-to-carve RSPCA-approved turkey breast roast with sage, onion stuffing, and streaky bacon.

The magnificent turducken, a meal that has generated a lot of interest in Australia over the last ten years or more, is also back on the menu. This three-bird marvel is a wrapped mixture of a turkey, duck, and chicken. But in Coles' case, the turkey and the duck are wrapped in a partially deboned chicken and served with Davidson plum, five spice, and pistachio stuffing, making carving simple. It will undoubtedly serve as a cheeky centrepiece.

Coles also places a lot of emphasis on providing options to accommodate various dietary needs as our menus vary and expand.

Customers can select a marinade for the lovely Atlantic salmon side for free, and baking it is as easy as doing so. Along with more than 25 other festive vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free goods, Coles' plant-based Christmas ham roast is also returning.

Aside from the main dishes, the range also offers entrees and sides, including potato croquettes with three kinds of cheese and chives, and a touch of honey.

Additionally, there are wrapped prawns that cook in the oven in just 12 minutes.

If you prefer cheese boards to dinners (or a cheese board before dinner…), the gourmet cheese selection has been increased to include a black summer truffle goat's cheese and a 12-month-aged Dutch gouda.

The renowned chef also suggested including a mango and avocado salad on the menu, noting that Australians enjoy eating in season.

Chef Stone said: 'In Australia, we love to eat seasonally and so adding some seasonal fruit with mint, avocados and some freshly prepared seasonal salads is a wonderful way to spend some time during these hectic weeks before Christmas and enjoy some time in the kitchen.'

And, of course, Christmas would not be complete without dessert!

Coles has meticulously selected some of the best desserts for the upcoming festivities, which include Black Forest bombe pudding, a 'celebration of luxury' that features Belgian chocolate sauce tucked away in the middle and topped with sour cherry sauce. We can see why the dessert is another of Stone's favourites!

Roasted pickled pork is a damn site better than ham if it is done right and a bloody site cheaper as well... the prices of ham at xmas time is nothing more than profiteering as far as I am concerned and therefor refuse to buy it....
