You won't believe what this Kmart clipper did to this man's hair! Burnt scalp and split ends galore

Ah, the classic DIY haircut. We’ve all been there before, just trying to save a few dollars and keep a tidy appearance, right? While sometimes a home haircut can end up looking just fine, other times it can turn out to be a disaster.

Social media user Yasmin was left fuming on Tuesday on behalf of her boyfriend, Aaron, after the Melbourne man attempted to give himself a 'fresh cut' with the $35 Kmart hair clipper.

'Look at his hair. Look what’s happened to it,' she said in a video.

'It’s so hard to see, but it’s literally split. I don’t know if you guys can see that, but it’s split, and f***ing burnt his head.'

A close-up of Aaron’s scalp shows bits of hair that have split down the centre.

'I even just pulled some, and it came out,' Yasmin added.

'It’s coming out. It’s splitting off.'

She warned viewers: 'Do not buy it. Look how split it is.’

The couple then had to borrow a different set of clippers from Yasmin’s dad and shaved Aaron’s hair shorter to fix the issue.

Yasmin’s post captured the attention of thousands of users, with many sharing their similar experiences.

One user recalled: ‘Definitely tell them, we bought a shaver, and it chewed the skin, blood everywhere.’

‘As much as I love Kmart, I refuse to buy anything Anko branded that has to do with hair (specifically heat or cutting) for this reason alone,’ another wrote.

Some users urged Yasmin to inform Kmart of the incident so they could do recall the product.

One person advised: ‘Get a refund and request $100 compensation for the troubles. Big corporations will pay it and recall the items eventually.’

Others suggested applying oil to the blades before using the gadget.

‘You need to oil your blades always,’ one comment read.

However, Yasmin clarified in the comments that her boyfriend had used oil on the clipper before starting and had washed his hair beforehand, but the damage was already done.

It should be noted that the product received a 5-star rating from previous customers, with some sharing their thoughts about the item at the review section of its Kmart page.

One person wrote: ‘This is great price and quality. Fits into your hand easily for DIY haircuts or trims. Cuts really well, comfortable. Box has a range of trim lengths.’

In a statement, a Kmart spokesperson said they took customer feedback seriously and encouraged Aaron to contact the team.

The representative said: ‘At Kmart, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality products to our customers at prices they love. We take feedback on the safety and quality of our products very seriously and are looking into these comments with our quality team.’

‘We encourage any customers concerned with one of our products to reach out to our friendly customer care team at [email protected] to ensure that it can be investigated properly.’

Cheap clippers will get hot on their metal base if running for any length of time and can actually burn/ singe the hair. Hairdressers work quickly so don’t have this problem and their clippers are expensive.
