You Won't Believe What This 'Entitled' Mom Demanded on a Plane—Passenger's Shocking Story Sparks Outrage

In the confined space of an aeroplane, where the air is recycled and personal space is at a premium, the last thing anyone wants is added tension. But that's exactly what unfolded on a recent flight, according to a story shared by a bewildered passenger that has since gone viral, sparking widespread disbelief and debate.

The incident, which has been the talk of the internet, began innocuously enough. A mother, flying with her three-year-old daughter, had come prepared for the two-hour journey with an iPad to keep her child entertained and, crucially, quiet. Little did she know that this simple act of preparation would lead to a confrontation with another parent that would leave the online community shaking their heads in outrage.

The mother in question took to the popular forum Reddit, seeking validation or criticism in a post titled 'Am I The A**hole for not taking my daughter's iPad from her?' She detailed how her daughter's use of the iPad had caught the attention of a young boy sitting across the aisle, who, upon being denied access to his own device by his parents, began to cry inconsolably. The boy's parents, adhering to a no-tech rule for their vacation, then made a shocking demand: that the original poster's daughter should also put away her iPad.

The request, as one might imagine, was met with a firm 'no' from the mother, who felt it was unreasonable to expect her to enforce another family's tech restrictions on her own child. She and her daughter donned headphones and attempted to block out the boy's cries, but the other family persisted with dirty looks throughout the flight.

The story, once shared, ignited a firestorm of support for the mother and her decision. Commenters on the web rallied to her defence, criticizing the other family for their 'outrageous request' and highlighting the importance of being prepared when travelling with children. Many pointed out that it's the responsibility of each parent to entertain their own child during a flight and that the mother had done everything right by ensuring her daughter was quiet and not disturbing other passengers.

One commenter noted, 'The only time I DON'T hate seeing a child wearing headphones and staring at a glowing rectangle is on an aeroplane.' Another added, 'Their failures are not your responsibility.'

This incident raises several talking points about modern parenting and the use of technology as a pacifier. It's a reminder of the days when a colouring book and crayons were the go-to for keeping kids occupied. However, it also highlights the challenges parents face in managing their children's tech use, especially during travel when the usual routines are disrupted.

For our members here at the Seniors Discount Club, many of whom are grandparents and may have faced similar situations, this story might resonate differently. You've seen parenting styles evolve over the years, and you understand the delicate balance between keeping a child content and respecting the shared environment of a public space like an aeroplane.

I can’t believe how some parents expect people around them to put up with badly behaved offspring. They should take responsibility to control their children. Granted when travelling journeys it becomes difficult. But surely the choice of something which will occupy them is a prudent thing to do

Unfortunately we have some people who seem to have an inflated sense of entitlement, hard to ignore when in a confined space, I don't believe your child should be made to feel wrong, I applaud you for thinking ahead for your little traveller
Well done to the mother for saying "No". If I had been in her shoes and that particular request was made, that 'entitled' cow would have received very unladylike language from me! ;)

If the child used ipad with earphones surely that would help to pass travel journey time without annoying other passengers.
You didn’t read the report. The child and the mother both put headphones on to block out the boys bad behaviour. The child with the iPad wasn’t bothering anybody other than the boy who wasn’t allowed to use his iPad.
