You Won't Believe What This Australian Vegan Pub Is Doing to Revolutionize High Tea!

In the heart of Sydney, a revolutionary culinary experience is brewing, and it's one that's sure to delight both vegans and the veg-curious alike. The Chippendale Hotel, affectionately known as The Chippo, has already earned its place in history as Australia's first all-vegan pub, thanks to the vision of Bhavani Baumann. But Baumann isn't one to rest on her laurels; she's at it again, this time with a cheeky twist on a beloved tradition: high tea.

The Chippo's latest offering is a limited vegan low tea menu, a playful and indulgent nod to the classic high tea experience. This isn't your grandmother's tea party; it's a modern, plant-based feast that's as much about community as it is about cuisine. For a fixed price, patrons can indulge in a spread of vegan bite-sized classics that will make your taste buds sing and your ethical heart soar.

Imagine tucking into mini pies and sausage rolls, savoring the flavors of Aussie burgers, and delighting in the sweet fusion of lamington pavlovas—all without a trace of animal products. The menu is a smorgasbord of innovation, featuring items like jaffles, scones paired with strawberry Shiraz gin jam, decadent caramel slices, cheesy-mite scrolls, and even baked bean cheesy toasties. It's a testament to the creativity and passion that Baumann, who also owns the adjacent bistro Mama B's, pours into her culinary ventures.

For Baumann, the low tea menu is more than just food; it's a statement. 'The low tea menu is a playful twist on traditional high teas, offering a fun, relaxed, indulgent alternative... and has been crafted with only the most iconic Aussie and pub food in mind,' she shared with 7NEWS. It's clear that this menu is designed to bring people together, to celebrate the joys of vegan eating, and to challenge the norms of what pub fare can be.

Available for $65 on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of June, this limited edition menu is a steal for the experience it offers. And for those who like to add a little extra cheer to their afternoon, a boozy option is available for $95, featuring cocktail teapots and bottomless mimosas. Whether you're sipping on a Hard Peach Iced Tea or warming up with a Hot Chai Toddy, you can also opt for mocktails if you prefer a non-alcoholic treat.

But be warned, dear members of the Seniors Discount Club, this delicious experience is as exclusive as it is enticing. With only two sessions available at 1.30pm and 5.30pm, it's essential to book in advance to secure your spot at the table. It's an opportunity to be part of a unique dining event that's sure to be the talk of the town.

So, why not gather your friends, or treat yourself to a solo adventure, and head over to The Chippo for an afternoon of vegan luxury? It's a chance to indulge in some of the finest plant-based fare Sydney has to offer, all while supporting a business that's pushing the boundaries of what vegan dining can be.

Very overpriced for most people I would say. But then again a lot of politicians live in Sydney and have just been given an underused large pay rise. Some of them are getting more as a pay rise than a lot of people get to live on for a whole year. Shame on them for being so greedy and not declining the pay rise since none of them would really need it to actually be able to afford to live.
