A sharp-eyed shopper named Adrian shared footage of the new, larger format digital tags at Woolworths' new store in Ashfield North, Sydney.

The video shows that the tags have doubled in size, making the price and any reductions much clearer and easier to read.

Woolworths confirmed the change to a news source, stating that the larger format shelf tags were designed to make shopping easier for customers and team members.

‘These electronic labels are designed to reduce paper, update the latest prices and specials in real-time, and reduce manual ticketing to allow our team to focus on serving customers and replenishing shelves,’ the retailer stated.

I think people will find it is. A bit of paranoia has crept in with people saying the price would change between putting the item in the trolley and getting to the checkout. They would change overnight when the shop was closed and weekly specials would be programmed to come into effect at store opening time on a Wednesday.

They couldn't possibly do it any other way. There would such an uproar for those that grabbed the item for the price listed and for it to go up by the time they hit the register.

THEY actually change the paper price tags on Tuesday night before the SHOP closes. Many times I go to Woolies say at 8pm on Tuesday night and most of the special Price tags have been removed. So, sometimes I actually go & get a specials brochure to see what WAS on Special and still is until Wednesday morning. A lot of the specials TAGs and items actually disappear and the NEW Specials for Wednesday has taken their place -especially on the ends - So on the ends are all the NEW items but without any prices because they start on Wednesday. I should point out that the special prices are still in effect until the store closes Tuesday Night [I Hope}.Bugbuyer 68autobug - VK2LEE

The only thing I buy at Woollies is their Carrot Cake🥕🥮. I love my carrot cake and I'm very fussy. I tried their carrot it, its delicious, and its a huge cake, for $30 ....

Competition between Coles and Woolies has changed from who can offer the best price to who can make the highest profit.
In my lifetime, I've seen a 3 step evolution.
1. The customer was always right.
2. Workers got rights.
3. Share holders got rights ..... must get max dividends.

Yes, I see that often, but they do stick those tags over the top over the original price very firmly, and when I pull the NEW Special price the tag comes off, showing the original price - still the same - They maybe tagged as LOWERED Price ?? not sure... bugbuyer 68autobug VK2LEE

Hopefully these electronic price tags are better than the checkout incorrect pricing - you have to check your docket to make sure you are not duped. What happens when the item is reduced due to early use-by date?

Woolworth has absolutely no interest in customer service. It is all about increasing profits by reducing staff. Then making the customer more and more responsible for the total transaction

Before Woolies start looking for new ways to display their prices, they should be making sure that their shelf items have a price tag. My local store, Vincentia, often, has items without a tag. I just ignore that item even if was something that I was going to buy prior to entering the shop. With prices being so volatile, and me being on a pension, I just can't risk being stung at the register...
I've had g/f bread with no dates. Not going to buy as it might only have a day or two left.
