It seems like every time we turn around, the cost of living is going up. Inflation is slowly but surely making it more difficult to make ends meet, and one of the areas that are feeling the squeeze the most is our food budget.
It's getting harder and harder to purchase meals on a comfortable budget, especially when you factor in things like rising petrol prices and the cost of other necessary items.
Even cooking your own meals is becoming more expensive, as the cost of groceries continues to rise. It's hard to prepare food on a budget when the price of basic items like milk, bread, and eggs seems to be increasing every week.
It seems like the only way to save money is to be more mindful about how we spend our money. We need to be more careful about where we purchase our food, and we need to be more mindful about the amount of food we waste.
Keeping this in mind, we previously covered stories of how some lucky shoppers were able to nab several grocery items for a fraction of their prices thanks to random markdowns.
Well, if you're one of those people who are hopeful to catch these budget finds, it looks like heading to your local Coles supermarket is the way to go!

One savvy shopper revealed how she managed to get her hands on 16 items from her local Coles for under $30.
Sharing her purchase on a popular Facebook group, the customer wrote: 'Wow it's my turn to be in the right place at the right time tonight 11 nights meat down for under $30.'
The shopper was lucky enough to find a range of chicken, pork and lamb products all marked down to under $4 a packet, while others were on sale for less than a dollar.
The post has captured the attention of many group members who congratulated the bargain hunter for her incredible haul.
One person wrote: 'Mine are never this low... only half price at best. Great score... well done.'
'Wow, that's amazing. I'll have to send you shopping for me,' another said, to which the original poster replied: 'It's great hey, I've never been this lucky, even as a checkout chick I've never really seen anything come through this low.'
Another shopper shared her purchases of several lamb products at slashed prices. Credit: Facebook.
Meanwhile, another lucky Coles customer nabbed some bargain lamb products from her local store. One of the five-leg roasts she bought originally retails for $39.48 but she paid just $5.26 for it, saving over $34 on that piece of meat alone!
'Well done! We haven't had a lamb roast in two years because of the cost. Excellent find,' one person praised.
Another added: 'You're so lucky. Our local stores are so tight. I swear they mark them down after everyone goes home so they can buy them themselves.'
While it has always been speculated that grocery retailers place their markdowns on evenings, a Coles representative confirmed that implementing price cuts has no fixed schedule.
'Markdowns do not uniformly take place at the same time across all stores. Many things can impact when this takes place including stock on hand, delivery schedules and team member rostering,' the spokesperson explained.
It should also be noted that to add value and minimise waste, Coles may occasionally cut the price of products as they get close to their best-before dates.
The representative remarked: 'We know our customers love good value so when a product is near its best before date we often mark it down so it can be enjoyed for a cheaper price, instead of being wasted.'
The statement added that Coles places a high priority on food safety, thus they advise all consumers to be aware of use-by and best-before dates.
The rising cost of living is a real concern for families and individuals all over the country. We need to be more mindful about our spending, and we need to find ways to save where we can.
