You won't believe how far this woman went to keep her parking space—would you do the same?

Many of us have experienced desperately hunting for a suitable parking bay for our cars, only to realise that nearly all slots have already been taken.

That’s why when a vacant spot is seen, every driver worth their salt knows to go for it immediately.

But what happens when you find someone standing in the spot?

That's exactly what one woman in Queensland did in a video that was shared on social media.

The video showed the woman holding her spot as a driver in a red car attempts to park in the spot she was standing on.

This happened in a car park in Southport, just outside of Surfers Paradise, Queensland.

'Let the road rage begin,' the user who posted the video said.

'She can’t do that, there’s another car park right up there,' she added.

In the short video, the woman in black can be seen firmly standing her ground against an oncoming red car. The determined driver of the car blasts her horns as she attempts to get her out of the way, but the woman refuses to budge.

A man then comes to the aid of the woman who refused to budge. It turns out their own car was just nearby.

After tension-filled conversations, the driver of the red car was seen driving away as the man switched spots with the woman in black, who then proceeded to their car.

'She’s admitting defeat,' the user who shared the video added. 'That’s insane.'

Many users accused the woman of being difficult, instead of simply moving along to make way for the car. They suggested that they would do anything to make sure they get the spot, from waiting all day to very slowly moving their cars forward in hopes that the woman would eventually leave.

'If this ever happened to me I’d just slowly drive in they’d move,' one user commented.

'I’d be going in and you’d be getting the f**k out of the way,' another replied.

While a third said: 'No chance in hell I’d leave. I’d have taken the day off work if I had to.'

Similar scenes have happened before, just like in 2021 where a woman with a dog similarly defended her spot by refusing to move from a car park in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast.

After a stranger intervened, the woman eventually moved along but first approached the teenager who filmed her.

'I got out of my car and she was still yelling at me, telling me I was immature for recording her and whatnot,' the teenager recalled.
Key Takeaways
  • A Queensland woman has been filmed refusing to move from a vacant car park space, causing a standoff.
  • The woman seemed to be holding the spot for her own car, despite the loud objections from a horn-blaring driver trying to park.
  • The incident was posted to TikTok with the caption 'Karensgoingwild', and drew sharp criticism from viewers.
  • This is not the first instance of this behaviour, similar incidents have been captured on video before, such as a Mooloolaba standoff in 2021.

I would ring police and keep filming her slowly moving forward till the back of my car was clear of any other cars and sit on the horn still filming her

Don’t get why she was standing in the spot and refusing to move if her car was already parked in another spot. Just being a bitch it seems. I would have driven into the spot slowly until I nudged her with the car, I’m sure she would have moved, if not run her over and claim diminished responsibility or bad eyesight, oh dear officer, I didn’t see her in those dark clothes, she blended in with the car park, or the sun got in my eyes and I didn’t see her. After all stupidity equals pain they say.

One day i had an appointment at the Griffiths Dental Clinic. The carpark in the mornings was usually quite full and one had to wait in line for the next person to come down from the university and leave the carpark area. A woman approached me and asked me to move up a bit so others could fit in the line, which I did. Just then someone came down to the carpark and backed out ready to leave and the woman drove into the exit drive and sped across the carpark to line up for the empty space. I walked over and asked her what she was doing. She replied she had an appointment and was late. I pointed out that every person in the line was there for an appointment and had been waiting much longer than she had. She refused to leave and we had a heated moment before some others (two men) walked up to tell her that she was in the wrong and should leave. She began arguing with them and while this was taking place the person who was leaving saw all this and waved me over to get into the parking space before the woman could maneuver into it. So justice was served but the woman in the wrong wanted to carry on, so I ignored any further shouting and after parking continued on my way to my appointment. I could not understand that she felt she still had the right to take a park before all those who were waiting much longer. What ever is this world turning into??? Where do some people get their 'entitled' ideas from??

ONE Aussie stood HER ground ! Not THEIR as there is only one of her!!!

Can’t understand this rubbish of Them, Their etc as we’re finding is used so much these days. As you said BigM there is only one so it should HE, SHE where necessary, or even He/She In the case of unknown gender. Everyone is born as male or female and changing gender or preferring to be known by any other gender is their choice not for the English language to be generalised.

Stop changing the correct use of the English language and, for goodness sake, use words correctly, everyone. This really has become stupid, using them & their etc.

I couldn't be bothered. If I was well enough to stand there and face off against a car, then I'd be capable of parking further away and walking. I'd give anything to be able to do that.
We have multiple appointments at the hospital for hubby's cancer treatment.
Parking drama only lasted once. I dropped him off at the door, drove around and around before deciding it was futile. So, I found a taxi rank, parked my car near them and caught a cab to the hospital.
Now, we have a Cabcharge that was given to us by our aged care provider and never go looking for parks again.
We are very fortunate to have that Cabcharge. If we didn't I would have to drop him and leave him .. something I don't want to do.
Parking at all hospitals us becoming a huge problem.

Similar happened to me at the airport. I was waiting for a person to come out of a spot and he came from the other direction and took it. Well I did my narna! I said I’m not sitting here for the good of my health you Know! He actually moved and as he drove out he said “Don’t have a heart attack“ I replied “I will if I want to!” Then I started laughing. The whole time my husband was sat next to me with his head in his hands. Us little people can get angry if people wrong us lol
