I knew of this Italian guy once who's brother became the father of twins. A boy and a girl.
The new parents had asked him to go to the registry office to register the kids which he was quite happy to do.
When asked the names at the registry office, he said Denise.
And when asked for the boys name he said DeNephew

My Dad was born Ronald or Ron for short. Anybody who called him Ronnie needed to be a fast runner because he would kill them!

He absolutely hated Ronnie.

Back in the early 1900's some Scots had the habit of raising you by your middle name. My father was Andrew Steven but called Steve. I was Christened Robert Stephen and called Steve. Even so, when the full name Stephen was used by my mother, I knew it was me in trouble. My father never seemed to get into trouble. And just to confuse things, by brother was Christened Andrew (my father's first name) Keith but brought up as Andrew.

My dad’s name was Leslie Thomas & his brother was Bernard but they were known as Pat & Mick. My grandmother was named Alice Mary & her sister was Mary Alice. People really are rather weird but why are so many related to me or my husband?

I hate names shortened. My son has 4 letters in his name so it cannot be shortened. My father insisted my name was Margaret and when I asked people not to give it another name they were not nice about it. i worked with a girl called Janet she liked to be called Jan which I did. Please respect what people like to be called.
