You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

I spent six unbelievably pleasurable hours by a very patient woman who is going to attempt to teach me traditional Māori weaving. The picture shows what I achieved, including lots of laughter, in 6 hours. I possibly should have posted this in Jokes & Fun, but it’s no joke 😁😁IMG_0504.jpeg

I admire anyone who does beautiful crafty work like so many indigenous people of countries do but I also admire anyone who wants to learn as well so more power to you!
I’d love to finished product when you have it!?😊
Thank you Royal Watcher. It might take a while as what you saw was several hours work, but I do have a level of determination 😁

One of my daughters is married to a Maori and was taught this years ago. She said it was very relaxing to do.

We would love to see a picture when you are finished

You will be surprised how quick you will actually get
ATM I am very slow and I seem to be undoing more that I’m doing. But at least I can see my mistakes. I’m being taught by a Māori woman and she is using the Māori words for stitches etc so I might just have the smatterings of another language by the time I’ve got my first piece complete!

The beauty of living....you are never too old to learn something new. Good on you Ivory. :)
My husband often says that “we’re never too old to learn something new” it’s something we both believe in. Neither of us want to stop learning new things everyday. Good luck Ivory and please post your work when you’re finished. The undoing is part of the learning process & boy, have l done a lot of unpicking in my attempts to learn a new craft.

I'm an old dog who can't learn new tricks.

But kicked enough to know that I don't....

YELP!!!
I think I’m older than you & I’m still learning, so no excuses! I even discovered how to play Bingo this afternoon, I still can’t believe it, but I was visiting my friend who is in respite, & she was trying to play, so I took over helping her. They didn’t even give us a chocolate for trying.
