They were built to suit the times....lots of foot traffic, horse and carts and horse and chariots etc....not designed for todays transport.

My son is an engineer he gets very annoyed when those above the engineers wont do what the engineers tell them is required so the engineers can't really be blamed it is the ones in charge of the money available
