I was reading an article stating you shouldn't keep food out of the fridge once it has cooled to warm

I was one who used to let food cool right down before placing in the fridge but apparently it should be put in the fridge cooling only slightly, so it's still actually hot.
The original reason people let food cool was because they thought it would change the fridge temperature and spoil everything else but apparently it doesn't just keep a little bit of space from other items.
