She captioned the post with: “While eating it tonight, I almost swallowed a small piece of glass that was in the slice. As per the photo."

The shopper went on to say that the find could potentially lead to dangerous consequences, especially if a child had eaten it.

“The piece of glass was small and sharp. Shown on the fork.

“This could have been dangerous especially if a child had got it stuck in their throat. Not happy.”

Woolworths responds

A Woolworths spokesperson told 7News.com.au that the case is an isolated incident.

“We take food safety very seriously and we’re concerned to hear about this customer’s experience,” the spokesperson said. “We have contacted the customer and will be providing them with a full refund for the product. We’re following this matter up with our supplier and are unaware of any other reports of this nature at this time.”

Currently, Woolworths is investigating the incident with its supplier to further understand the case and to prepare necessary measures to ensure it doesn't happen again.
