Just in time for the Christmas rush, Woolworths has revealed the food items that we will most likely buy ahead of Christmas. Can you guess which food gets the top place?
Woolworths’ expected sales data claims that mince pies will be flying off the shelves as millions of these pastries are anticipated to be purchased in the coming days.

Another food item that was predicted to be a popular buy is cheese.
According to the supermarket giant's expected sales data, more than 435,000 kilos of brie and camembert are expected to land in our shopping trolleys this year — a 30 per cent jump from last year's sales, making it the biggest Christmas for cheese so far.
Thomas Dux Cheese, a brand exclusive to Woolworths, is expecting to sell 740,000 units of dairy products this festive season.

Aside from cheese, the data also revealed that more and more shoppers are looking to buy Australian ingredients, with 85 per cent disclosing that shopping for ingredients is important.
A 20 per cent increase in demand for plant-based and vegetarian products was also reported.

Seafood is also in demand as more than 550,000 kg of Australian tiger prawns are expected to be sold.
Additionally, more than 80,000 dozen of Pacific and Sydney rock oysters are expected to be snapped up for Christmas — a 50 per cent increase from last year.
Aussies are looking for opportunities to spend less time in the kitchen and more time to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones, hence, an increase in demand for foods that are centred around convenience and value and do not compromise on quality, according to Woolworths managing director Guy Brent.
Mr Brent said: “We know families and friends across Australia are expected to reunite and make the most of the holidays,” Mr Brent said.
“As a result, we’ve seen an increased demand, specifically in Victoria at Woolworths for entertaining essentials like cheese.”
