The Double Bay supermarket features a fresh pasta bar, an in-house cafe, a dessert bar featuring 15 Toscano desserts, and a social enterprise bakery. Customers can also shop for premium floral arrangements, extensive ranges of healthy and organic meals by Macro Wholefoods Market, and fresh pasta by Pastabilities.

Woolies fans have described it as the “bougiest Woolworths in Australia” and you just have to see it to believe it!

One Sydneysider posted a quick video tour around the supermarket on her TikTok account, which has since gone viral.

Racking up nearly half a million views, Tiktok user @cass.xx.b’s video sparked envy from other customers who are eager to try shopping themselves at the “fancy” Woolies.

The first section of the store she showed was the fresh bread section. “When you walk in there’s a fresh bread section and all of this pick and mix whatever you want – lollies, crackers, nuts, chocolate,” she said on her video. She also showed several vegan and sugar-free options for customers who are watching their food intake.

Then, she showed the self-serve section which offers different kinds of rice and pasta. The store also has several frozen sections of “premium” and “health and fitness” to-go meals, as well as a chilled drinks area.

She also showed the viewers the store’s very aesthetically pleasing cafe, and while the coffee was good, it also cost her $5.50 which is quite a lot for a cuppa.

A second Sydneysider also filmed his experience inside the “fancy” Woolies store, and this time, he focused on the supermarket’s chocolate section.

Food blogger Adrian posted a video on his TikTok account, pointing out the difference between Double Bay’s Woolies from other branches.

“You know you’ve arrived at bougie suburbs when you see this,” he said, showing the store’s range of chocolate treats and their remarkably expensive prices. Vegan truffle chocolates are being sold for $98.90 per kilogram, while vegan chocolates are $76 and coconut sweet treats are $47.50.

Thousands of Woolies fans have commented on both videos, saying they are looking forward to shopping at the “bougie” store.

However, there are also some who questioned why the supermarket is selling their items at such expensive prices.

Turns out, the supermarket is giving back a part of its profits.

Good on you Woolies for sharing the love with The Bread and Butter project. There will always be folk with more money than sense and snobby enough to spend money that the rest of us would choke on. If the store wasn't economic it wouldn't stay open so Woolies are really just filling a need. I won't be going there, as we used to say, I couldn't afford to breathe their air!!

It means extravagant, often to the point of snobbery. Usually used in relation to the conspicuous consumption of the urban upper-middle class. Derived from "bourgeoisie"
