Woolworths, Coles, IGA or Aldi? Find out which supermarket was crowned 'Supermarket of the Year'

Aldi has been named Australia's "Supermarket of the Year" for the second year in a row, according to a new survey.

The German discount supermarket beat out Woolworths, Coles and IGA in the customer satisfaction ratings compiled by marketing research and polling company Roy Morgan.

With over 95 per cent customer satisfaction out of the 60,000 Aussies surveyed by the company, Aldi has cemented itself as one of the most trusted brands in Australia – even during a year full of challenges.

ALDImobile also took the top spot for "Mobile Phone Service Provider of the Year", beating out leading mobile service providers Telstra and Optus.

Roy Morgan CEO Michele Levine explained that ALDI's superb customer service has most likely prompted the participants to vote for the retailer.

"Aldi supermarkets won nine monthly awards during 2021 and with an average customer satisfaction of over 95 per cent couldn't be matched in taking out their fifth win in the annual award,” she said.

"The high level of customer satisfaction for the two Aldi brands is matched by the high level of trust people have in Aldi - consistently one of Australia's most trusted."

Aldi Australia Group Director, Simon Padovani-Ginies, said that the company was honoured to have received the special award for the second year in a row.

He quipped: "This recognition and acknowledgement only further cements the importance of our commitment and mission to continue to provide the highest quality products at the lowest prices in the market."

So if you're looking for a supermarket that will give you the best bang for your buck AND keep you coming back for more, Aldi is the clear choice.

Not surprised Aldi won supermarket of the year, I'm a convert to Aldi they have great tasting meals there, (and I'm fussy with what I eat), and have bought alot of there weekly specials always keep a eye on them.
If you have kids who don't eat there vege's (and who doesn't) just add some of Aldi's little potato frozen meals and mix with vege's and the kids just love it

Congratulations to all the winners. There were a few surprises for me. Bunnings Warehouse (where l shop), isn't really a surprise in W.A. given that they really don't have any competition here. Not sure what it is like in other states.

I am not a fan of Aldi stores. My tastebuds must differ from those of the general population as I don't like most of the food products I have purchased from them. Although their products are cheaper I can never do a full shop there, I have to still top up at Coles or Woolies, as Aldi's range is limited.
