Woolworths announces major update on Direct To Boot Service—is your local store affected?

Woolworths, one of Australia's leading supermarket chains, has recently announced a significant update to its Direct To Boot service that is set to impact 190 stores nationwide.

This change reflects the company's commitment to enhancing customer convenience and adapting to the evolving needs of shoppers, particularly those with busy lifestyles.

The revamped service, now dubbed Direct to Boot Now, promises to streamline the grocery collection process by allowing customers to place an order online and have it ready for pick up in just 60 minutes.

This rapid turnaround is a game-changer for those who value time efficiency and could use that extra hour saved for other important activities or relaxation.

For a flat fee of $5, customers can take advantage of this expedited service on orders of $50 or more.

Since its inception in 2021, the Direct to Boot service has experienced a staggering 130 per cent growth, with over a quarter of a million orders being processed every week. This statistic alone speaks volumes about the popularity and success of the service among Australian shoppers.

Chris Jones, Woolworths Director of eCommerce, highlighted the service's appeal, stating: ‘Our Direct to Boot service has already proven popular with our customers, particularly with young families who are looking for a fast and convenient way to do their weekly grocery shop.’

‘Over 20 per cent of all of our Direct to Boot orders are currently being placed for pick up during the busy school run hours of 8-9 am or 3-5 pm.’

‘Our new Direct to Boot Now offer is the perfect solution for parents placing an order before the school run and picking it up with the kids in the back.’

It is also perfect for seniors who need to run errands or have a doctor’s appointment during the day.

It's important to note that Woolworths isn't replacing its existing Direct to Boot service.

The supermarket giant will continue to offer the original service, which allows customers to place orders for free pick-up within three hours.

This flexibility ensures that whether you need your groceries in a hurry or are planning ahead, Woolworths has an option that suits your schedule.

Direct to Boot Now is currently available in more than 190 stores across all major cities in Australia. This expansion means that more Australians than ever can benefit from this convenient service, which saves time and makes the grocery shopping experience more seamless.

For our members, this service could be particularly beneficial. Not only does it reduce the physical strain of shopping in-store, but it also provides a quick and easy option for those days when time is of the essence.

Whether you're caring for grandchildren, managing health appointments, or simply enjoying your retirement, Direct to Boot Now could simplify your life.

We encourage our Seniors Discount Club members to check if their local Woolworths is one of the 190 stores offering this updated service. It could very well transform your approach to grocery shopping, combining the ease of online ordering with the speed of in-store pick up.

Could never understand the "Direct to Boot" concept. I shop, I pay, I walk to the car, groceries in the boot, mission accomplished!
I recently used this service twice when not feeling 100% & found it very good. I had been unwell with a migraine the day before on one occasion & was still affected by bright light & noise. I only had to drive 2 mins to the shops & was home again within 10 mins.

Lazy..... and pay extra for already exorbitant prices..... what about the $$$$ they have saved on the self service registers... doesn't affect me as I will NEVER shop there..... unless the give the stuff away.

It’s a great service. I don’t think I will need the quick shop service. But direct to boot is good. I don’t use it all the time but it is very convenient

Such a good service. If I want certain items that are hard to find in store, I just wait until I need $50 worth of groceries and let someone else search the shelves. Works for me

my local took away 4 senior parks, leaving only one for 3 pickup to boots. On that whole side of the centre there is nowhere for seniors to park . And none on the other side/end. It's a huge shopping centre. Why couldn't they put elsewhere as there are actually 4 rows that line up with the crosswalk. I've also seen cars parked in there with no occupant- not right.

We love direct to boot from Woolworths & use it every fortnight. Why would l want to waste over an hour wandering around a store searching for things & getting annoyed by people, screaming children etc when I can spend 15mins on the iPad & Ted collects the next day. The staff at our local woolies are terrific so it works well. I really do dislike shopping!

My wife & daughter use this service every week. A real time saver for them. My wife still goes to the shop a couple of times a week for bits & pieces but usually on her way home from taking our granddaughter to school. With the hint given here recently by a Woolworths shopper there is no need to miss the specials either.
(our doggy likes picking up the shopping because she goes with our daughter to pick this up).
