Woolworths’ New Caramelised Biscuit Lamingtons: A Biscoff-Inspired Twist Worth Trying?
- Replies 0
At the Seniors Discount Club, we’re always on the lookout for supermarket treats with a bit of nostalgia — and a little something extra. So when Woolies dropped their new Caramelised Biscuit Lamingtons, we had to get the team together for a taste test.
If you missed our earlier announcement, this limited-edition product combines the shape of a traditional lamington with the distinct flavour of caramelised biscuits — think Biscoff spread, but wrapped in cake. At $12 for a 4-pack, it’s an affordable way to bring something a little fancy to your next afternoon tea.
Plus, with National Lamington Day on July 21st, there’s never been a better time to indulge.
So, how did it taste? Here’s what the team had to say:
Jonathan: ‘If you've ever had (and enjoyed) a Golden Gaytime ice cream, you can't go wrong with this Biscoff 'lamington'. I put lamington in inverted commas because although it somewhat resembles a standard lamington in shape, the texture and flavour are completely different — there's no coconut dusting, and the jam filling has been replaced with Biscoff. Having said that, if you go in with an open mind and aren't too much of a lamington-purist, you absolutely won't be disappointed.’
April: ‘Seriously delicious. Definitely heavier on the caramelised biscuit flavour than lamington. Very decadent — I didn't actually eat a whole one by myself. The best part of that though, is that it goes a long way. Cut it into smaller bites for a great high tea treat (I think it looks a little more appetising that way too).’
Ash: (Coming soon — stay tuned!)
Maddie: 'I adored the caramelised biscuit lamington, but I also fear that I am biased because I really just love anything biscoff. What I would say is I have a sweet tooth, and I don’t think I could have finished a full lamington to myself without feeling a bit sick. I think if you have a sweet tooth, you could buy a pack of these lamingtons, and have half of one a day, and save the other half for the next day or share it with a friend or partner! That way, you get your sweet treat and you’re more economical in how much you consume, because of course these cost a bit more than your average lamington!'
Our verdict? It may not please the strict traditionalists, but if you enjoy Biscoff biscuits, this is a fun, indulgent alternative to your usual lamington. The sponge is soft, the caramelised biscuit coating adds a little crunch, and the biscoff-style filling in the middle gives it a rich, almost dessert-like feel.
Best shared: We’d recommend slicing them up to share with friends or family. Perfect for morning tea, an afternoon treat, or sneaking into the grandkids’ lunchboxes as a surprise.
Have you tried them yet, or are you planning to? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
