Cricket: a classic Australian sport and pastime. Do you play it, or are you a fan?

Well, this blast from the past comes from the National Library of Australia’s Trove initiative and author Nick Richardson.

In the picture are four women who were among the first who played in cricket test matches for Australia in the mid-1930s. Richardson wanted to chronicle the story of these pioneering women who played for the country at a time when they were considered less than their male counterparts.

Kudos to Sherill, Spear, Snowball, and Partridge!
