Woman gives away ASTOUNDING SECRET to scrap cooking grease efficiently - “Never going back!”

If you gave me an option to either clean a hundred plates or one pan completely coated in tough, slimy, grease - I’d go for the 100 plates in a heartbeat. Grease is such a pain to get rid of and they take forever to clean too! Scrubbing away at an oily pan can have you wondering what year it is once you’ve finished.

And to add to that, scrapping the oily mess means getting everything else oily too. Argh! It’s almost like being a part of the audience in Oprah’s talk show, except everyone gets… muck.

Disposing of the grime down your sink? You get some grease! Eh, how about straight to the garbage? You still get some grease! Will pouring it in a jar do the trick? Maybe… but if you miss by a few centimetres, then guess what – you, once again, get some grease.

Thankfully, one UK woman has revealed a simple but effective trick to eliminate cooking grease, and it’ll only take you a few seconds!

TikTok user Holly Dormer captions her video with “Never going back. Who else does this?” and she can be seen demonstrating the effortless trick.

“Show me the life hack that you randomly saw one day, that is now an unconscious standard practice in your life.” the audio clip used in the video stated.

“I’ll go first.”

Holly starts by covering her kitchen sink drainage with a sheet of foil and pushing it down which creates a hollow, bowl-like shape at the bottom.

Then, she proceeds by picking up slices of bacon from a grease-filled pan and setting them on a plate covered in paper towels. Holly carries the oily pan over to the kitchen sink and carefully pours the leftover grease into the drainage covered in foil.

She leaves it to cool for a few minutes and the video cuts back to when all the oil has been solidified. Once the grease is solid, she gently peels away at the sides, scrunches the sheet over and seals it with a quick twist. Ta-da! She tosses it in the bin - not even a single trace of the icky mess anywhere.

Holly explained in the comments section of her TikTok video that she typically uses a jar to dispose of grease but that she doesn’t always have one around.

“We don’t always have a jar on hand but when we do, we use that and cook with it later! Aluminium is always nearby so this is just a quick fix!”

Her video has amassed a whopping total of 6 million views and nearly half a million likes! Some users left comments sharing their own tricks on how to properly throw away cooking grease but others were shocked to see her not reusing ‘perfectly’ good oil.

“I just put 2 pieces of paper towel in a bowl and dump the grease in there and then compost it. No aluminium to the landfill!” one advised.

“Did she just throw out perfectly good bacon grease?” another user asked.

A third raged saying: “NO MA’AM!!! That is not okay. You save that stuff and use it later for other things. Lord! You just made every southern woman faint!”

“I normally drink that bit.” a fourth hilariously joked.

“In Asia, it can be used for the next generation.” another teased.

A user commented that they have always poured the oil down the sink stating: “What is the hack? I’ve just been pouring it down the sink for 20 years now.”

However, according to Mike Counsil Plumbing and Rooter, pouring cooking grease down the drain is something we should never do.

“It’s a common misconception that pouring grease down the drain is okay if you run hot water and pour dish soap after it. In reality, grease should never go down the drain.” they explained.

“Even if it’s hot and easy to pour out of the pan, it will eventually cool and solidify somewhere in your plumbing. This causes a gummy, goopy mess to form along the pipe walls, trapping other debris that flows down the drain. Over time, the resulting clogs could bring your drains to a standstill.”

How do you get rid of cooking grease? If you’ve got a couple of great tricks to share with us, feel free to write them down in the comments!

One of the things I miss from my childhood is dripping. I think every household had a dripping bowl that was constantly being replenished with yummy meat fat and juices. Lavishly spread on thick fresh bread and sprinkled with salt it was heaven on a plate!:)
None of the senior youngsters on here will understand that Ricci.....:cool:

What a screaming WASTE!
We leave in that pan to solidify, then pop a lid over it.
Take out a couple of bread slices, lightly butter one side each, leave them out over night to go a bit stale. Next morning warm the Bacon fat and drop the bread slices in to make yummy, delicious fried bread to have w eggs, or raspberry jam!

IF discarding fats, drain or scrape onto old NEWSPAPER, never ever use aluminium foil! Put that newspaper into yr compost bin, or Council's Compost/Green Waste bin.
Using foil is stupid, expensive, wasteful, and because foil is recyclable, any grease in the foil contaminates the recycling process!
The person wasting al.foil must be made of money!

So Holly has found this great method of getting rid of her cooking grease /fat!!!
Wonder if she ever considered that aluminium foil (which she is sending off to landfill) takes up to 400 years to break down.........
Yes, she got rid of the problem in HER kitchen by adding to the problem in OUR environment
