Nowadays, more and more people are finding ways to keep their family's travel costs down in any way possible.
For one, many are keen to save as much money as possible so that the savings can just be used for other enjoyable purposes.
Michelle Johnson shared her hotel hack online, thinking it may help out those a little tight on funds.
The idea was to pre-soak ‘soap sponges’ before the family's holiday.
Johnson does this trick by taking two sponges, pouring soap on them and waiting for them to dry up before cutting them into smaller pieces. From there, one bag is set aside for the family in their hotel room while the other comes along with them in the diaper bag.
According to Michelle, this tip is convenient for cleaning any water bottles, cups, lunch boxes, and reusable ziplock bags—all without having to buy extra soap or wipes for the occasion.
She later explained that she uses the sponges as ‘one-and-done’ when wiping down stroller trays, tables, and anything that might need cleaning while out and about.
The video now has three million views and has caused split opinions from the viewers, with some saying it was unnecessary and that she could have just taken a sponge with a travel bottle of dish soap.
'Why not just take one sponge and small bottle of soap?' one asked.
'Just take a sponge and a travel bottle of dish soap. People complicate everything,” another commented.
While a third agreed, and added: 'That is so unnecessary.'
'Just rinse it in the bathroom sink…I promise, you’ll be fine,' a fourth commented.
'A lot of work for nothing. I’m sure the room has soap,' a fifth added.
While others applauded the trick and said they would be trying it out.
'I like this idea, I’ll be using this for our upcoming camping trip!' one said.
'Doing a cruise soon, this is genius,' another commented.
'It’s nice to have it prepared. Don’t have to take up extra space with bottle of soap, don’t worry about soap spilling in luggage,' a third added.
While a fourth said: 'Great idea. I hate going into a store while on [holiday]. Plus you can use these for other things that kids get messy in your room.'
'I do the same for laundry soap—I put detergent on a washcloth and let it dry before I pack it—then I throw the towel in the laundry with a load,' a fifth added.
