It seems that Kmart's $17 coffee grinders are becoming a hot commodity among thieves.
Many shoppers have noticed that the grinders are security tagged, and have come up with a number of conspiracy theories as to why.
A number of shoppers speculate that the grinders are often stolen by cannabis users who use the appliance to grind marijuana before smoking it.
This theory is supported after one social media user took to social media to share a photo of a $95 espresso machine with no tags sitting on the Kmart shelves next to the two different security protected grinders, which notably only cost $17 and $39 each.

Social media users reacted to the post, with many sharing their theories...
One user wrote: "Purchased mine at Kmart, the girl serving me couldn't understand all the security for the cheap grinder when the expensive coffee machine had none."
"This is hilarious because I clean for this place and just saw some junk mail up in the lunch room this morning," another added.
"This is literally the only appliance on the list that needs security in the whole appliances section."
One Kmart employee confirmed that the retailer keeps the appliance for safekeeping, writing: "The Kmart I work at they keep them behind the service desk, get people asking for them multiple times a day."
Meanwhile, an incident from last year where a viral TikTok video exposed the bizarre comments in the review section of Kmart grinders.

It was said that the grinders have gone sold out "mysteriously" and have notably jumped $3 in price.
The Kmart website is full of five-star reviews for the "amazing product", with many customers suggesting that they use it for "something other than what is recommended".
One reviewer ambiguously wrote: "Uh yeah, it works well for other stuff too," while another was less subtle writing: "Amazing Product for the price, will whizz through the fattest buds and collects a stupid amount of 'dust'. Highly recommended."
Well, it seems that a lot of shoppers are getting high hopes (pun intended) to nab these coffee grinders without going through the hassle of acquiring them from staff.
How about you? What are your thoughts on this?
